If we're talking purely physical, you can't get much better than Jason Momoa: But in terms of actual celebrity crush? "Celebrity" might be a bit of a stretch, but Jeremy Scahill is IT for me: He's the author of Blackwater, an expose of (what was then) the unknown world of U.S. mercinaries fighting the war in Iraq. Watching that man argue his point on a panel discussion or when confronted by Congress/hostile reporters does things to me. I recommend watching the whole thing for the pontificating context, but if you don't feel like it, skip to 2:50. There's a zinger between 5:50-6:05. He never makes it personal, he never gets personal, his facts are meticulous and he never backs down. Holy shit, where are all the men like this?
Charlie Day is insanely sexy to me. I think it's because he's only 5'7, and I'm also on the short side (5'1) As for Ryan, I've had a thing for him since some time in the 90s, when he played the asshole kid in what felt like every TV show for my age group.
Other than gel polish (which is great - I saw a home kit at WalMart for $49 including the UV light) my go-to manicure is actually 4 products. First I use a pH balancing agent by OPI called bondaid. Then I use a rubberized basecoat called Bonder by Orly. It dries to a tacky finish so the polish kinda has something to stick to. Two coats of OPI polish followed by one thick coat of Seche Vite topcoat. I also run a stroke of topcoat around the end of my nail to seal the edge and I usually get 5-7 days before I get any chips or peeling. (My nails are thin so if there's any length to them, they bend.) If you have any friends/family that are cosmetologists/nail techs/estheticians, ask them to get your products- they can buy all the higher end beauty supplies at wholesale costs. I'm an esthetician but I can still buy anything at my local 'license only' store. OPI, for example, is $4.25 a bottle and my shampoo & conditioner are $19 for a liter of each. And now for my question... Anyone got a good website suggestion for cute dresses? I'm hunting for cute but not super trendy, not too retro and most importantly - not too expensive - dresses. Need a few that I can dress up or down and that are comfortable.
While I mostly associate Modcloth with being trendy and retro, I think they have a pretty wide range of styles for dresses, and most of them can be dressed up or down fairly easily. That site's my retail porn. (And Anthropologie, but I can't afford them, and I'm assuming you knew about them already.) Also, they have a pug mascot named Winston. I don't do too much online shopping for clothes, though, because I apparently have proportions that aren't supposed to exist and one size isn't guaranteed to fit. I have, like, 5 different sizes in my closet. Even so, I hope other people have suggestions. I feel like all of my clothes come from the same three stores. Thank god for thrift stores.
Also, I am rewatching The Motorcycle Diaries, and I would like to publicly announce that I would not kick Gael Garcia Bernal out of bed:
+1 for Ryan Gosling. Also, Jay Baruchel is my crush that nobody understands. I like 'em skinny, scruffy and awkward.
As a straight man, I can't confidently say he's a good looking dude. However this begs the question, are girls more into this type (thin, but well defined) or more muscular? The former seems to be the trend now. If so, then why?
I have always preferred the lean build personally. If I was going for an athlete, give me a guy with a swimmer's body over one with a bodybuilder's body any day. I don't know if that is the "trend" but that has always been my preference. Why? I can't really answer that. I like what I like.
What types of clothes do you like to wear? How would you describe your style. Check out www.asos.com. They have lots of different stuff, and most importantly, their prices are great. I have bought a couple of things from them without any problems. Like audrey, I try to buy most of my stuff in the actual store, other than Anthropologie, a couple of other places I like are Nordstrom (may be taken out because of cost) because 90% of the time I go there I can find something that I like and that fits. Plus their customer service is second to none and to me, that means a lot. Also good old fashioned Banana Republic has the dress it up, dress it down, take it from day to evening thing down. A bit on the conservative side, but if you are looking for work appropriate, that is your place.
I agree. I go for a soccer player's body over a football player's. That's just my personal preference. I think I like 'em lean because when I cuddle, I don't like to feel like a guy could crush me with his biceps. And I love me some "man bones". While we're kind of on the topic, have any of you ladies read "50 Shades of Grey"? It's been on my reading list for a while and I just started it this week. It's getting a lot of hype right now because the rights just got picked up for a movie and apparently the characters are loosely based on Edward and Bella from Twilight. Everything Twilight is an automatic turn-off for me, but the book doesn't give off a vampire vibe. I'm also not into romance novels but this one talks about BDSM. I made the mistake of reading it on the train this morning and HOT DAMN, it was very hard to contain myself.
Adam Levine? No, thanks. He's a bit douchey for my taste, he seems to think WAY too much of himself. As far as musicians go, there are a few that do it for me. Bowie wins, however. Ryan Gosling is pretty appealing, I will admit it.
I agree with all the Adam Levine douchebag talk...he comes off as a complete ass. But based on looks alone, I think he's pretty damn hot. If the choice is for looks AND personality, I'm all aboard the Ryan Gosling train, as well as George Clooney (he just seems so cooool...) and Ryan Reynolds.
I can totally understand that about Adam, my appreciation of him is strictly physical - specifically referencing the pics of him nekkid... I've always LUSTED after Billy Zane. And yes, even though he shaves his head most of the time these days when he's not working on a film, I still find him unbelievably fucking HOT.
Because finally, that's why. About 50 Shades of Grey, I haven't actually read all of it -- so take this with a grain of salt -- but it's apparently kind of infuriating to people who write BDSM-themed erotica in the same way that Twilight is infuriating to people who write...English. The passages I've read have been a bit trite ("steel encased in velvet"?), but they might have been cherry-picked, so who knows? I'm inclined to think that popular things are inevitably watered down and hacky, but the one benefit is that you can talk about reading this in public, so if that's your goal, have at it. Honestly though, there's some really great erotica out there -- I'd guess around 5% of it is pretty top-notch writing -- so if all you want is something sexy to read in private, I'm fairly confident you can do so much better.
I cannot outweigh a man, no matter how defined and muscular he is, and have sex with him. I'm a solid female, I'm a six or eight, but my body weight is sooooolid. I want to feel like I'm wrapping my legs around a MAN. That's why I do not find Adam Levine attractive.
All these comments about Adam Levine being douchy have me confused. So, we are supposed to like the people we fuck now. The rules must have changed since I was single, I must have been doing it wrong.
My celebrity crush: Viggo Mortensen. I liked him best in Eastern Promises. He's old enough to be my father but who cares. There's something really sexy about him.
Probably my biggest celebrity crush is Norman Reedus. The things I would do to that man. His eyes ... On a side note on the nails issue, my nails rip really easily. What is a really good strengthening nail polish?
The hot guy suggestions here have been far too monochromatic. I'm here to help: Daniel Sunjata: Mrad Mouawad: Keni Styles: Tyson (obviously): (No homo)
Dennis Leary. He is unusually attractive, smart, funny as hell and can act his ass off. I want him, please. I also find Kid Rock pretty hot, especially when he performs. I will never forget the first time I heard him. He's probably carrying something but that's ok I can still look. And Eminem. I don't know exactly what it is about the guy that works for me in particular but, everytime The 8 mile is on I stop down and drool, especially once he starts to move and rap.
