Know what the heaviest thing you can ever put on your floor is? No, it's not a piano or an aquarium or some monstrosity of an island with a granite counter top. It's you, a 130lb girl, running (or walking briskly) across the floor in ^ those heels. Such a terrific point load. /geek
I think they're potentially awesome. With the right outfit and the right attitude to wearing them, on someone with the right complexion and coloring - they could be fantastic. But I think there's a lot more ways to go wrong with those shoes than right. You'd really need to build the outfit around the shoes for it to not be terrible.
They're awesome if you get a job as Cobra Commander's secretary. Otherwise you look like a backup dancer in an Elvira made for TV movie. You know whoever buys this is going to wear a cape with it. Probably little else. Which, might not be a bad thing. But how often do these things work out?
Women's shoes these days are ridiculous. There, I said it. I can't wait for the pendulum to swing back towards conservative styles, or at least those that don't include 4" heels. If you say you can wear shoes like that comfortably, I"m saying you're a frigging liar. No one can. It's a farce. I won't go into why this farce exists...but in 20 years, folks will be saying "hahaha, what was with the whole vampy look women had going on at the turn of the century?". I last worked in a Financial District, and one of the silliest things I'd see there, besides tourists wearing shorts in July, was young women wearing shoes that made them walk like they were on poor fitting stilts, trying desperately to keep up with whatever group they were with....you could just tell they were dying wearing them. We're not past putting ourselves thru hell for a look?
I respectfully disagree with you, Nicole. Spoiler I'd wear any of these any day of the week to work. I've been wearing heels like this since I was 12, so they're more comfortable to me than flats. The shoe trend I don't fucking understand? Spoiler Wedges feel like hooves to me. And this one is particularly ugly.
I have flat feet, arthritis and I live in converse, so heels present an enormous challenge to me. However, it's safe to say I might be the worst dressed lady on the board, so what the fuck do I know.
I love wedges. I wear minimalist shoes all day at work so wedges feel like a little vacation for my feet. I detest flats and kitten heels. Ugh.
I have more trouble walking in kitten heels than five inch heels. It feels like there is constantly something stuck on the bottom of your shoe that you're stumbling over. Plus, they have zero effect on the sexy foot/leg/butt shape that heels are supposed to give you. I do not understand them.
Yes. And I dislike chunky heeled shoes as well. I have a delicious pair of Betsey Johnson heels I need to have a reason to wear. Perhaps when I pick The Guy up from the airport tonight I should do the trenchcoat and heels thing? That seems a good reason to wear them.
FYI everyone, I went to that website and since it's going out of business everything is at least 50% off.
I'm on board w/ kitten heel hating. I have a pair and I wore them once. More than once that day I went to take a step and left a shoe behind. As for wedges - I really like some of them. I have a pair of these — Spoiler Wedge styles like this I find just silly. May as well duct tape some bags to your feet — Spoiler These I love! Spoiler What would you call these other than dangerous? Spoiler
Since the rest of the board is jaded from romance: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/9397478/Farmer-creates-heart-shaped-meadow-in-memory-of-wife.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... -wife.html</a>
Most days I don't, and usually use Laura Mercier, but there are times I definitely want foundation. I did some digging and found MAC's Pro Longwear again - it's a dream. Finished with Urban Decay's spray and yay! No slimy weird creasy things.
Is that Urban Decay like a finishing spray? Also, I just started using Laura Mercier's powder foundation out of curiosity...is that what you're talking about?
I use the MAC shimmered uses, but then I finish (and apply actually too) with their Fixit spray. Is the Urban Decay better? Gosh I hope not, I just bought a brand new bottle of the stuff yesterday.
Pretty sure it's just the LM Tinted Moisturizer. I'll have to recheck the brand because to be honest, my makeup stash is...a bit excessive. UD is far and away better than Fix+ for what I'm talking about...reason being: Fix+ is a hydration mist, but it isn't meant to set makeup at all. It's meant to, if you're looking chalky or dusty, rehydrate your skin and the makeup. It won't hold through any kind of elements. I like using Fix+ to spray on my brush and then apply my foundation. It gives it a softer finish. The UD finishing spray (I think it's called Up All Night) is meant to be applied after makeup is on, and it sets it so it doesn't bleed or ball or crease. It's meant to be worn in humid conditions or sweaty ones - like at the club. I've long felt that MAC really did a disservice to the customer by naming the product Fix+ because it's not a fixing agent for the makeup, it's a hydrating one, hence the confusion and irritation many customers feel.
