2019 Ford Ranger here, and yeah, no kidding. You have to get creative sometimes, but I chiefly needed a pickup for hauling hay. I can get 18 bales on it.
Speaking of changes... I remember when the biggest flex on this board were who partied the hardest, who bedded a hot girl over the weekend, who did the coolest thing in the coolest place. A person got extra points if they made some worthy dumbass cry. Now the biggest flexes are who can DIY the best, grow greatest garden and who can get the best loan terms. I think @dixiebandit69 gets the DIY badass award for his breadth of skills across automotive and home repair categories. If I had to guess, I'd say @Juice has the most attractive credit report among us. Gardening is a stacked category, many of you are amazing at it.
jail points are still jail points. You’re a badass for going there, even if it was just for having one to many beers and your asshole got used as a pocket pussy to pay for safety.
Do y'all remember when bands/ artists would release new albums every year or so? These days, artists (most of them, anyway) release new stuff about every five years. On a similar note, remember when TV shows would have like twenty episodes per season? These days, 8-10 is the most you get with most shows.
speak for yourself. I crack myself up all the time. 3 days from the two year anniversary of the covid that almost killed me, I have that shit again and it's... well, trying to kill me again. Is that not funny to you? It is to me.
The last really cool trucks were C10 and dent side Fords, and all trucks before them. And, yes, boobs.
Yeah, see the high beams, nice grill, exterior finish may need some touchup, but the body is in great shape.
My relationship with alcohol has changed so much I hardly get into the same antics I used to. I just don’t have the same drive to go out to bars to socialize like I once had. I don’t even have kids. Another topic I figured I’d never come around to but really have in the past year or so.
"relationship with alcohol" is also one of those new buzz phrases. Tbh it kinda makes me cringe, same thing with "sober curious" and the whole Dry January/Sober October thing. Not that it's your fault, Kubla, its just become part of the social lexicon and I get it. I'm also super for it -- I'm 4 years sober myself. But it's called "I'm drinking less," yeah? As the resident Sober Person in the family, I get asked a lot about the whole "sober curious" thing, and I compare it to when "fratire" became a deal back in TM days. Publishers realized that men read too, so they coined a term and marketed specifically to them. Doesn't change that men have been reading books since forever, and still do. But it was just a really cringy marketing opportunity to capitalize on momentum that had already begun without that word.
I was watching some Mecum auctions back around Christmas, I saw a couple of C10s go for over 100k. These were just typical LS swapped trucks, restored by talented people. Not something special, like numbers matching Chevelle SS or anything. Just plain old restored C10s. I think someone like @GTE with paint and bodywork experience could make a decent living rolling C10s across that auction block. Pay for a good interior, do a clean engine swap... bam, profits.
Didn’t realize it was a buzz word but I’m a little more self aware of the nature of how it affects me. My priorities have changed pretty drastically in the past few years. My entire social life up until 2-3 years ago revolved around drinking. I had no big hobbies or outlets to fill my time. Friends started having kids so I saw them less and less. Last hold out party animal friend started having issues in his life and we stopped talking (come to find out he went into AA and was just recently hospitalized for liver disease issues from a relapse). Be interesting to see if there is a backlash to drinking since the high levels of drinking during the pandemic. College bars I used to go to are still packed with kids.
some people tried to drink their way through the pandemic. Those who succeeded, regret it. Good for you for making the healthy choice. Two years ago, I was the only one of my friends or family who even knew what NA beer was. Now at least half my family moderates with it, my wife barely drinks alcohol at all and instead consumes mostly my NA beer and sparkling wine, and those I do know who are still heavy drinkers are looked at with a side eye by their wives and family. there’s been a lot of ink spilled on this topic so I won’t take up anymore here, but I can certainly pm you or anyone else interested some good articles for further reading
Well, I flew a couple of my teams to Vancouver for a week long onsite, that we’re halfway done. It’s been a hell of a drink fest. My bill from last night’s team dinnner was $7k for 25 of us. It was GOOD. Every night we’ve been closing down the hotel bar. Tonight we’ve landed on “drink all of their sangria”. We’re now 12 pitchers in and the bartender is crying. The hot chicks/escorts are looking at us with disdain. A mouse ran across the bar for the second night in a row. We’ve named him House Mouse. He seems Ok with that.
