I started watching the Pentaverate, basically Mike Myers doing the Austin Powers thing in a different story. It’s really dumb, but in a nostalgic “I was in high school when Mike Myers was successful” way.
Really digging Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. Selena Gomez with Martin Short and Steve Martin is a strange combo, but it works really well.
Yeah I'm halfway through season 1. I feel like the storyline is incidental and the real point of the show is for Steve Martin and Martin Short to just talk shit to each other. Love it.
I agree. Season 2 is also fun. I don't have Hulu, but I signed up for another month to binge through Only Murders and to watch Prey. I've also been watching Dopesick, because I'd read Empire of Pain.
Anybody watching "Welcome to Wrexham" on FX? I don't know much about soccer, but I'm enjoying it. It's a bit of self-promotion for Reynolds and McElhenney, but it's neat.
Anyone watching Mo on Netflix? https://www.netflix.com/title/81134264 We're two episodes in and quite enjoying it.
Tried these shows this week: The Terminal List… I quit part of the way through episode 2. It’s just not very good. The writing is really bad and the show just makes zero sense. Chris Pratt just sucks. Black Bird… A miniseries but really good. It has some decent Mindhunter vibes.
The new Archer is great. I wasn't into the change of scenery they did for several seasons and fell off it. The new season has a little more formed plotlines/missions with less emphasis on personalities and one liners. The new beavis and butthead is hilarious.
I tried watching Industry on HBO after it got rave reviews. I don’t get it. The show just isn’t very good. The characters are incredibly unlikeable, the dialogue is boring and the story just isn’t compelling whatsoever. The nudity and sex scenes are also absurd. It’s as if they were choreographed in a deliberately shocking way so that when you recoil at them, you feel like you’re about to be lectured to about how un-sex positive you are. I didn’t understand why they were shoehorned into the plot in such an odd way until I saw the first end credit: Directed by Lena Dunham. Hard pass.
Los Espookys on HBO Max is like...a group of goth Mexican Napoleon Dynamite horror fans doing stunts and scary pranks for a living. It's fuckin goofy, but fun as hell. Only six episodes in season 1, about 30 minutes each. Worth the subtitles IMHO.
Overrated dreck. This is one of thise bullshit campaigns like George Lucas used to pull with “If you don’t enjoy this, you’re a bigot/homophobe/racist”. This show is uninteresting, awkward and boring. If you want an interesting show in an office building, Severance is where it’s at.
Avenue 5 just kicked off it's second season. It's weird sci-fi but in a funny way, with modern Red Dwarf vibes.
