Fleishman is in Trouble was super good. A bit upper east side angsty, but the critics focusing on that aspect are missing the point I think.
Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal on netflix is fairly solid even for someone who's been following the thing for a few years. Its three 1 hour episodes and the trial should wrap up next week in real life if you want to catch up.
Finished it yesterday. Thought the HBO one was better. The Netflix one spent nearly 2 out 3 episodes on the boat crash, which got boring, but did help paint a better picture of a potential motivation.
History of the World Part 2. Fucking spectacular. It feels like Drunk History, but with Mel Brooks gleeful mischief and some fantastic character acting. Johnny Knoxville as a flatulent Rasputin, for example.
So, I'm really digging this season of Picard... they are bringing back the entire old cast, from Wharf, to Data, Reiker, LaForge, etc. Quite enjoyable so far.
Binged "The Night Agent" on Netflix this weekend. Really enjoyed it, was 4 eps in looked at the clock and was like oh midnight, should probably head to bed.
Yea, but I couldn't even make it 2 episodes into treason, and I had 4 eps into this before I could blink.
Treason was one of the worst shows I had ever seen. Bad writing. Horrible acting. Plot holes you could drive an F150 through. It’s a shame because I like Charlie Cox, but that show was just the worst.
Thanks for the recommendation. I really enjoyed it. It's already been renewed for a Season 2. And, I didn't realize until several episodes in that Hong Chau, who plays Diane Farr, is Liz, in The Whale. It was really well done. Nice job on the sets and production design for Camp David, and all of it, really. I have no idea what the com center at Camp David might look like, but that could certainly be it.
Has anybody watched "Jury Duty" on Freevee? The idea is pretty much just like the premise for that old show Joe Schmo. It's behind-the-scenes, all access to a jury in Los Angeles County. The hook is you follow Ronald, one of the 11 jurors . . . and he's the only one who is not an actor. Everybody knows the premise but him. James Marsden plays himself - a hilarious version of himself, but most of the other actors are people you've never heard of. I recognized a couple of them from bit parts elsewhere. I've only watched the first episode, but I laughed my ass off. A friend recommended it and says it gets even better.
I’m fully caught up. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. Everyone does their thing so well. The judge is Ike Barinholtz’s dad. I think he was a real judge at one point. On another note…Beef on Netflix is awesome.
I'm watching the first episode of Jury Duty now and just absolutely burst into wheezes when Spoiler The chick slapped the lollipop onto her chest when the guy offered her half his sandwich. Thanks for the recommendation, y'all. I'm excited to binge this one.
I feel like a lot of these bit players have been waiting their whole career for a bonkers role. It's gold.
I don't think we have a Barry thread. Anyway, did anybody watch last Sunday's episode? The actor playing El Toro was Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning Director. This show has an interesting vibe where you know something is about to go wrong, but it doesn't go wrong in the way you were expecting. And, it's usually slapstick hilarious.
Finally finished. The payoff is the final episode and the cast / production reveal. That was so good. I didn't know Ronald Spoiler got $100k Spoiler . The number of times I'd watch for a few minutes and it was relatively bland and then all of a sudden I'd burst out laughing.
