I honestly fell off the show. It became so outrageous that I could not suspend my disbelief that the regular Joe was truly out of the loop. C'mon. Are there rocks between his ears?
I can totally relate. The lens of cynicism is SO hard to remove. But I think he was genuine. I think he's actually a rare kind soul. Try and stick it out to the end.
Slow Horses is pretty good on AppleTv. Gary Oldman is the shit. It’s seems the shows on their service have a fairly high production value, even if they aren’t all winners. I’m also eagerly awaiting Severance to return.
I'll check it out. The marketing makes it look like that stupid show with Al Pacino where they hunt Nazi supervillains, so I hadn't bothered.
Fucking Netflix's, started watching a Netflix series from Netflix UK went to look if season 2 is on the way, and nope cancelled even thou it has great reviews. "The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself".
Just started watching Mr. InBetween. Either this flew under the radar or I completely missed. What a great show.
I stumbled across Mr InBetween a few years back, really enjoyed it. It took me a minute to not expect Dewey Crowe every time Damon Herriman appeared....that is a startling difference in character.
I'm only about 3/4 through season 1, but I'm enjoying the fact that he doesn't really have any moral dilemma about being a criminal. He embraces it and just doesn't give a shit. The show is also a lot funnier than I was expecting.
One of the best shows you can find. It has an incredible main character (and equally incredible sudekick) and the best gunfights since “Heat”, whoever was put in charge REALLY wanted to make sure every bullet is counted and sounds right.
It's definitely one of my favorites in quite a while. Scott Ryan deserves to blow up. He's like a charismatic version of Danny Trejo.
It’s his ONLY ROLE. It’s basically like Dice Clay where he’s amplifying a mode of his personality. He’s often stated he’s unsure if he can play any other role because of his personal investment in the character of Ray. He doesn’t LOOK like an actor, he looks like a guy you work with with sunken eyes and a horrific skeletal grin. But he certainly deserves any fame he gets. And as I said, his buddy is fantastic. I like how he’s somewhat inept, yet is a fiercely loyal friend to Ray who always has his (and his family’s) back in the best ways. I hope this show gets enough of a cult following that it forces it back into existence.
I think FX or whatever the Australian affiliate is would have kept it going. Scott Ryan decided to end it after 3 seasons because he didn’t like the character’s personality or some shit. Sometimes people who are completely divorced from general show business put out the best product.
Creative freedom is important. Nothing about this show felt “Hollywood” which of course makes it shine. When you let talented artists do this thing you get shows like this, or maybe Boston’s first album.
Watched the first episode of the Smartless doc on Max and laughed my ass off. It's very well done. It's not a lot of true behind-the-scenes nuts & bolts stuff, but there's a lot of pre-show banter. If you haven't ever listened to the Smartless podcast, I'm not sure how much you'll enjoy it. But, if you're a fan of it, this is fantastic.
I tried again. It was worth it. The final episode was *chefs kiss*. I might have teared up. How did this show end up so fucking wholesome?
