I don't know if I should put this under a music thread, a recommend a show thread or in all the threads . . . but, hot damn, this looks fun! What an eclectic group he's interviewing.
Hey I’m watching Reacher - Season 2. Check it out now on Prime Video! Fuck yes! Reacher season 2 next month. I think it’s based on “Bad Luck and Trouble” which is a really good one in the series.
That link doesn't work, for whatever that's worth. And yeah, that's a great book that I can see being done really well. It brings back Neagley to kick some ass. Audible has most of the Jack Reacher books available as audiobooks, and I highly recommend them. I listened to a bunch of the Jack Reacher ones while hauling my trailer across the country. Really looking forward to this series... just wish they happened more often.
I had worried that the Loki season was going to wrap up with Everyone Defeating Evil Through the Power Of Friendship. While I still would have enjoyed the show/season if that happened, it would have been significantly less satisfying. What actually happened was much further along Loki's character arc. I've enjoyed when the Marvel shows can get a little weird. Not in the She-Hulk weird (building entire storylines around self-references doesn't work for me), but Loki and WandaVision both got to explore their own little worlds with consistent styles, and being connected to the MCU didn't detract from that (unlike Secret Invasion).
Love Has Won is a new docuseries on HBO (or MAX or whatever it’s called now) about a cult of hippies. Two episodes are out now. I haven’t been this intrigued by something like this since the Tiger King.
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2023/11/fallout-first-look I had no idea that this was coming. Sounds like it will be pretty cool. I’m a fan of the games, so I’m really looking forward to it.
Walton Goggins as a ghoul is great casting. Cautiously optimistic. I'm two episodes in as well - what the fuck? So this chick basically started a cult as her own security blanket instead of addressing her own trauma? The whole colloidal silver thing is bonkers. I thought that was a urban legend; no idea people were actually that stupid.
Series premiers tomorrow. Geddy & Alex were on "CBS: This Morning" yesterday, and Geddy's memoir is doing well in books, and Alex appears as featured artist on some recent albums. It's cool to see them keeping on post-Peart.
In the same vein, Sammy Hagar's show Rock And Roll Roadtrip is also great for that personal behind the scenes interview style. Huge fan.
I think he's only done the 4 episodes, but maybe there'll be second season. The one with Robert Trujillo from Metallica was cool, and the section where they talked about recovering Jaco Pastorius' bass was touching.
Absolutely. Claypool was also interesting. The bassist from Nirvana was a very interesting glimpse into how such a definitive grunge metal guy turned into an accordion playing hippy who raises goats.
Been really digging Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and Slow Horses on Apple TV. Once I finish those, pumped that Reacher season 2 is ready to rock.
It's a slow burn, but it's very well-written and compelling. More Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy than James Bond.
Been watching Tacoma FD lately and laughing my butt off. It's a good, dumb funny, low stakes show. I like it for the end of the night when I'm supposed to be sleeping.
