I don't know if this counts but all the Chappelle's Show episodes are now up on Comedy Central. http://www.cc.com/shows/chappelle-s-show
Over my weekend I watched G.L.O.W. which was fucking rad. Alison Brie is awesome (and you get to see her naked a couple times in the pilot), Marc Maron fucking kills it. Then I watched the first eight episodes of Marvels Runaways, and was sad and angry that I now have to wait multiple days to watch the last two episodes.
“Happy!” is fucking amazing. I’m already thirsting for more. Chris Meloni’s character of Sax is one of the most consistently hilarious characters since Hank Moody.
I just finished the first book in The Expanse series, Leviathan Wakes. It was good and I plan on reading further into the series. I have a question for anyone who may watched the TV show they made from it: Will watching the show spoil the rest of the books for me? Do they follow any pattern like season 1 = book 1 or does it diverge enough that watching the show won't spoil the books?
They kind of rearchitected the story a bit in the TV show... we get parts of various books back-scattered into the entire TV series, and there's stuff happening in the TV show that doesn't happen in the books. There's no "1 tv season = 2 books" or "1 book = 2 seasons" kind of correlation. You're seeing stuff in season 1 that's spoiling bits of book 2 for you, etc. I'm about half-way through book 7 now... and I have no problems watching the show as it happens and having read the books.
Anyone watching Cobra Kai on YouTube/YouTube Red? It’s shockingly pretty good and a lot of fun. Has a 100% on RT at the moment. If you’re going to do a sequel to 80s nostalgia, this is the exact way to do it.
It looked good, but I didn't feel like paying for yet another streaming service. I guess the first two episodes are free, and then you have to subscribe?
They did it the way the fans of the original wanted, and didnt try and pitch to a new generation of fans. Ralph Macchio is almost 58 years old. 4 years older than Jonnie Boy. Damn. GET EM A BODY BAG YEEEEEAH 8/10
Just watched the first episode... it's good. In the same vein, anyone watch Jean Claude Van Johnson, where JCVD plays himself? It's pretty hilarious, and he takes a pretty good shot at himself in an entertaining and self-deprecating way. Too bad Amazon cancelled it after a season.
It was decent. Do you know Kevin Bacon just shot a Tremors sequel/reboot TV show for Sy/Fy and they cancelled it after the pilot? We can’t have nice things.
That was my first thought. SyFy has “Happy!” and...pretty much nothing else for me. Not exactly a tip-top network. I wish it worked. I loved the first Tremors film. On a better note, Ash vs. Evil Dead is a marvellous follow-up to the originals, every single episode is great. The showrunners obviously have a blast with their funding on that show.
It sounds like more and more sci-fi is being spun up over the next couple of years by a lot of networks, which I'm looking forward to. If there's one thing I'm not looking forward to, it's another buddy cop or whacky police force collaborator or cop series or medical series...
