    I went to undergrad at Clemson for two years, so I can give a little more insight into the town.

    #1. House parties are few and far between. All housing close to campus is school run with RAs and shit. Even the "apartments." There are frat parties, but I can't imagine going to those by yourself uninvited.

    #2. There is a "strip" running through "downtown" Clemson. There's about 4-6 bars that are all usually pretty crowded with college kids that all know each other. I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to meet people there unless you're crazy outgoing.

    #3. Greenville is actually a pretty cool place. It's a southern town, but people from all over end up there, so it's not oppressively southern. I went there to visit a friend last summer, and had a good time. I'm guessing you're living on campus, so good luck with the 45 minute drunk drive home.

    #4. Fun little Clemson fact. There was a law on the books when I was down there that prohibited bars from having bottles of booze. They could still sell it, but it had to come in those little airplane bottles. For some reason this annoyed the shit out of me. Probably because it took bartenders longer to make drinks, and there was usually less liquor per drink.

    There are quite a few things I enjoyed about Clemson, but the bar/party scene wasn't one of them... Well, except that I enjoy getting good and hammered. Cleanses the soul.

    Met a tiny shrimp of a man yesterday, friend of a friend, around 5' 2" and 110 pounds, with dirty clothes and a small, yet unkempt beard.

    He is still in college, and goes to a lot of protests and demonstrations. He has lost count of how many times he has been arrested, but it's somewhere between 5 and 7. He hesitates a lot and is unsure when he speaks. Probably the drugs. The last arrest was when he and fellow trash interrupted a truck carrying supplies to troops in Iraq.

    "Convictions?"

    "Yeah...several times".

    "Have you ever had to spend time in jail?"

    "Uh....Mostly just a night, but one time...it was for assaulting an officer, and I spent a month in jail."

    He shrugs his shoulders. Not even worth remembering. He can't remember what he did or how his parents felt, except that he played chess a lot there.

    "....But like... how many times have you been arrested?" he asks me as if it's the most natural thing in the world to happen to people.

    "Not once."

    "Really?" he furrows his brows.

    Never in my life have I wanted to bash someone's skull in so badly.
