I wouldn't go painfully hot like xray, she reminds me of Erika Christensen who I have never been a fan of. Its the eyes I think. Her body is the truth tho. I dont think Rust and Maggie fucking was cliche, mostly because of how it happened. If they carried on an affair, then sure. But it almost gave Rust some humanity in some way, and then especially when he realized what was up. It was big for accurately conveying Maggie's rage and how fed up she was with everything, and kind of showing what a fragile mental place Rust is in, despite seemingly having it together in a dark, gothic sort of way. I wish there was more of a cliffhanger payoff towards the end, but otherwise another amazing episode. Though man, this show always leaves me feeling depressed and dreary, son of a bitch.
Speaking of Banshee, have the networks reverted to the old studio Central Casting method? That's three actors now who have played virtually the same role on both shows, during the same season: Rebecca/Marty's recent fuck The crazy Amish preacher/The crazy meth dealer Random white supremacist/Ginger If the Korean guy shows up on True Detective as a transgendered woman, then I'm calling bullshit.
There seems to be a general pool of actors that you see from time to time who usually do high end 1 hour dramas. Lots of recurring characters from Deadwood, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire. The bounce around from Showtime and HBO and sometimes FX and AMC. Look at the all the Wire people in Walking Dead. And Jim Beavers was first Ellsworth in Deadwood and has done a little of everything from Dexter to Justified.
HBO seems to set the standard with some of them and then Showtime and A&E and FX will pick them off for their big shows. Edie Falco went from Oz to The Soprano's to Nurse Jackie. Hell I sometimes forgot Michael C Hall was the gay brother David on Six Feet Under before he was Dexter. Beaver was on Breaking Bad a few times as well but Ive yet to see him in something that I liked more than Ellsworth. I honestly thought Rust had his morals or ethics not to go fucking his partner's wife. I mean I guess I can see it as a pure moment of drunken shithoused weakness but still is nags me, doesn't seem right. Tricking and beating a meth head Aryan into revealing sources? Sure. Fucking his partner's wife? I'd like to say shit heel cop that takes Tuttle's side in every argument was the one mislabeling all the case files. Grown up hooker was fine as hell. Dat Ass indeed.
Not to mention new police boss is The Greek from Season 2 of The Wire that dealt with the dock guys. Freeman was the black priest in the first or second episode. I just get excited and call them the HBO All-Stars. All I have to say about this show is one thing and one thing only. Spoiler Nice hook Marty.
You can tell by the giant, perfectly-circular nostrils. That's how I recognized him in the first scene.
Re: Re: True Detective Racist Has this show already been renewed for a second season? Whoever follows Mc and Woody will have a tough time.
Re: Re: True Detective Whatever, dude. I could bowl a skeeball into each of 'em, make no mistake. Check it out next time you see him on screen. You'll laugh at how right I am.
Was he the same guy that Rust talked to at the school much earlier in the season? I think it was like episode 3, maybe 4. He drove up, got out, and went to ask about the school and the guy told him it was closed.
Yea, he was approached when he was mowing a lawn next to a school. It was like a non-scene. Never led you to think he had any more of a role than that.
Inside that school is where Rust found all the bird traps-- that was the clue the show left. God I fucking died when they were driving in the car. Rust instantly fires up a smoke and starts being Captain Bringdown about the surroundings. "I don't like the way things grow here." Next show it all ends. Hopefully it will bring closure for Marty and Rust since their lives currently suck.
I'm going to be really sad when it ends because this was basically the perfect show. And its going to be hard for them to top it. I wonder if they will do it American Horror Story style and keep the cast pretty much the same but change the story completely. If they keep Mcc around, I will be very happy. He has totally changed the way I view him as an actor.
I forget the line, but right before they cut away, Marty says something and Rust does a little, almost "raise the roof"/fist pump, move with his hand. For some reason, I found it hilarious and rewound it to watch it again. Nope, they are swapping out the cast entirely from what I understand. Which I think is great, cause it will allow for the show to continue without the burden of first season expectations and comparisons. Sure there will be comparisons to McC and Harrelson, but at least people wont expect things the same way you would if there wasn't a swap.
I know both actors loved doing the show, at the same time Id love to see this gothic/nourish nightmare in a completely different American setting .
