It rains about 5 days a year in Las Vegas. Today is one of those days.

I have listened to The Dark Side of The Moon in its entirety at least once a day for the past week. I'm not very excited for the Eclipse, but fuck do I ever love Pink Floyd.

It really freaks me out that we are all going to be on the dark side of the moon today, just like in Eclipse.

I'm rambling like a fucking drunk. I need coffee.

So... watching this NASA TV Live Feed is kind of funny.

It's like really badly produced community cable TV, but with really smart people with custom jet aircraft and space ships.

They are so obviously not professional broadcasters, but they're in there, giving it their all, and are obviously excited to share the big event with everyone who is watching.

    Bless their hearts.

    Gotta love science geeks.

Anyone on the West Coast able to report in?

Was it all you thought it would be? Exactly what you thought it would be? Underwhelming? Did it trigger the Purge? Did everyone start running around in circles screaming in fear? Did your pets go nuts?

This morning was clear skies all over Nashville.
At noon, when it starts here, there are swarms of slow as fuck puffy clouds.

    Fuck you, clouds.

SoCal. Maximum occlusion occurring in about 10 min. We're only scheduled for like 50%, so it's still fairly bright out. I think most people who really cared headed up to Oregon/Idaho/Wyoming.

It begins in about ten minutes here, full eclipse (or close to full since we're right next to Georgia) in an hour and a half.

Pouring rain and clouds as far as you can see in every direction. Damnit.

Yeah... we're about 75% where I am, and I've got my welding helmet with fresh batteries in it... should be interesting to see.

FYI, if you're planning on using welding masks/goggles to watch this, be sure it's a grade 12 or higher shield... oxy cutting glasses will fuck you up as they're not dark enough.

My property is getting 99%. It's probably covered right now with dirty, filthy hippies having eclipse sex.

I'm supposed to see 83% of the eclipse and at the moment there's several layers of clouds obscuring my view. Oh well!
