This looks incredible. If you haven't already, read the book. It was voted the best sci-fi book of all time, and for many good reasons. The 1980's film adaptation was tremendous and ground-breaking at the time, but this shit is another level.
I, like many people back in the 80’s thought the original film sucked sweaty hog balls and still do to this day. They couldn’t have tacked on more awesome talent to that movie if they tried and it sucked, sucked, SUCKED. I never get why people liked it. This... this looks as badass as a sci-fi movie can get. By one of the best directors alive, who NEVER makes a bad movie. Villeneauve made the long awaited sequel to Blade Runner a stunning and completely worthy follow-up, he also directed Arrival, Prisoners, Sicario, Enemy, etc. He bats 1.000 at the plate. Here in Dune he’s using the right kind of actors for the right kind roles in the story. It looks AWESOME.
Part of that trailer made me think of the Astartes Warhammer fan film. If you haven't seen it, it's pretty fucking cool... and I would love to see a full length movie rather than the frame every 3 days that seems to get released.
I think this new trailer was cut better, and makes it look more fun. Interesting that they still plan to release on Dec 11 while everything else is postponing.
Dune is getting bumped back A FUCKING YEAR. https://www.google.com/amp/s/variet...une-release-date-delayed-2021-1234767105/amp/ Well...it gives me time to read it finally. I ordered the anniversary edition hardcover and it is a beautiful looking book. Also...they’re supposedly gonna release the Wonder Woman sequel this year still. So they can blame its performance on COVID/current events, and not on how shitty of a movie it is.
I also bought the book. I’ve noticed lately as I’ve tried to read books, I have a lot more trouble focusing. I have to reread pages because while I’m reading the words, I’m not paying attention. Is this just me?
I feel you man. Reading and focusing is hard these days when there are so many distractions. And if the book isn't 100% engaging, it's easy to find your mind wandering and the next thing you know you've missed a whole page that you've "read".
It's not just you. A big thing I've noticed is that reading requires "practice" for me. If I don't read a book in a while, the first one I pick up is going to be problematic to focus on. If I keep it up, though, it becomes easier and easier to focus. But if I take a break again, I regress.
Seeing the trailer, it’s something that MUST be seen on a big screen. They bumped Halloween Kills until next October as well.
Yeah, it’s totally understandable, I’m just worried the theaters in my town will go out of business and I’ll have to drive to Omaha.
