Finally. I really enjoyed the book, and I was an extra in the filming of a couple scenes. I'm excited for this. Amy Adams looks good, but I'm not sure about Glenn Close. Her makeup makes her look a bit like she's in an SNL sketch about old people. The trailer is cut to have a different perspective than the book, but it could be promising.
I read the book so I could watch the David Lynch version so I could watch the Denis Villeneuve version, and then they bump the Denis Villeneuve version so far I'll have forgotten what I read by the time it premieres.
I find no reason to watch the David Lynch version. I hated it as a kid, I hate is as an adult. Campy, miscast garbage.
The same way Val Kilmer and Cage did: non-stop partying. Of course Kilmer chose hard drugs and that why he looks how he does now.
I read Cage liked real estate. Bought dozens of high priced houses and lost his ass when the market crashed in 08. De Niro just has the run of the mill out of control spending wife who is now milking him dry in a divorce. Arnold and Gibson are a bit different. I think Arnie's best days are way behind so he takes b rate action movies every now and then. Gibson has to produce what he's making otherwise he's just taken a handful of crap action films in the past few years.
Cage liked spending money. In addition to the real estate he bought “rare “ comic books, motorcycles, and dinosaur fossils.
And charity. He was also one of the most charitable people in his prime, he’s donated crazy amounts of money.
Arnie became rich in real estate before he was famous, because he flipped condos decades before it was cool while living in California as a bodybuilder. He’s rich, smart and only acts for the fun of it now. Gibson's work has been mostly meh the past decade except for Hacksaw Ridge and then the ultimate masterpiece, the greatest comedy of all time: Mel Gibson Tape no. 4.
Sure. But Val Kilmer partied his ass off for at least a decade once he started in Batman Forever, fact. Cocaine and whores. All the time. That’s why he stopped starring in films and getting offers. And when you stop doing that shit, you get fat just like he and Axl both did. It’s no secret, but it was so obvious anyway. Willis isn’t a star anymore generally the same reason Katherine Hiegl isn’t: he’s a giant insufferable pain in the ass to work with.
I'll argue that Val Kilmer was still killing it in the 2000s, even it was to a lesser extent. Case in point: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. If you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. Robert Downey Jr. (right before Iron Man) and Val Kilmer were awesome. It might the best film either of them have been in.
