This is the only movie in Phase 4 that I'm excited to see. It will be a crime if they don't have Defoe utter his meme quote at some point. The running theory is that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will both be in it as different versions of Spiderman since the multiverse stuff is in play and because of the last scene with Doc Ock.
And this movie is just a set-up for the real Multiverse movie, which is the next Dr. Strange film (which took a year to shoot). Funny thing is DC just did this on tv with “Crisis on Infinite Earths” with their shows and characters, the problem being those shows are fucking terrible, and therefore so was the mini-series.
I guess this is a teaser more than a trailer. But, timing is interesting, a day after the new Spider-man trailer, also featuring Cumberbatch, breaks the internet . . . Kirsten Dunst, the former Mary Jane herself calling out "Peter" ? Coincidence? Probably. Also, Dunst and Fat Damon, er I mean Jesse Plemons, worked together in Fargo, too. Should be fun.
That is Colin fucking Farrell as Penguin in “The Batman” which is described as being a flat-out horror movie.
. edit: i have never read the book. But this trailer doesn't give anything away. I am not even really sure what the movie is about.
At first I thought they'd made the financial thriller story into a film with Reynolds and Rock, and I was like, cooooool. But, meh.
New teaser for the next Matrix movie from one of the Wachowski [strike]Brothers[/strike] Sisters. https://thechoiceisyours.whatisthematrix.com/
Yeah that was really clever. I looked at the clock when they said the time and my immediate reaction was, “WTF?” Im just hoping for some John Wick easter eggs. It's also pretty cool that both of those teasers change every few minutes.
I read the entire series and really enjoyed it. It’s 14 books, so a series is really the only way to handle it properly. It also appears to be pretty well cast. Its epic fantasy, but instead of an overarching quest to find or destroy or save something, it involves a group of friends growing into their abilities over a long period of time and using those abilities to preserve reality from external threats. Its hard to summarize a 14 volume story, but I think that’s close. Others here have read it, maybe they can chime in without spoilers.
Yep, read it years ago. One of the aspects I really enjoyed was how they all started off together, then got wrapped up in major events, grew as individuals with their own paths that occasionally intersected. It’s as much a story of the individuals as the whole group, if that makes sense.
Really looking forward to this one: Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy are both so good. Plus Matt Smith and Terrence Stamp? Yes. I thought this was all Edgar Wright, too, but Krysty Wilson-Cairns co-wrote this with him. (She wrote the screenplay for 1917.)
Suspiria and Repulsion are my two favourite horror movies of all time, the two I think are the greatest of their kind for the genre. That movie is obviously influenced by those two particular films. It looks fucking magnificent.
That certainly looks like a Matrix sequel. And by that I mean it looks like a movie from 2003. Look on the bright side— at least he isn’t rocking the Gay Priest look, and I didn’t see Jada Pinkett anywhere.
I thought it looked alright. All they really needed to do with the original sequels was keep the story simple and keep up with the brilliant action set pieces. They made the story so convoluted it brought down the rest of the movies. This seems like a soft reboot. I’ll give it a chance. What I don’t get from this trailer is why they jettisoned Morpheus when it looks like they just replaced him with a younger version of the same character. In interviews Laurence Fishburne has just been like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ on his non addition to the film.
They could make the same movie with less philosophical bullshit, less 90's era anti-corporate nonsense, and more "lady in skintight leather pants steals a Ducati and her friends murder dozens" in spectacular slo-motion HD. There's not enough marijuana in this state to make me high enough to go to a Matrix movie for the plot. Soft reboot? I'm game. Also, the song I recall hearing in "Sucker Punch" which is a similar version of "Plot? We don't need a fucking plot...give the girl in a schoolgirl uniform a samurai sword and have her fight monsters to 90's techno". Brain off, and pray they turn it into a better video game than 2003.
There was scene in the trailer of someone watching the first Matrix movie, so it’s probably going to be pretty convoluted.
Maybe they didn’t use Fishburne because he looked like hammered ass in John Wick. He REALLY let himself go.
