Lockout Amusingly watchable, assuming you either don't know anything at all about physics, space, human nature, politics, strategy, continuity, logic, reason or common sense, or are so high that you've forgotten. Utterly divorced from any kind of plausibility, but some how still kind of entertaining. Like a parody of a B movie, made all the funnier by the fact that I don't think that the producers had any intention of making a parody.

Yup, it sure does.
It's one of the high-speed visual docs, this one looks somewhat like a sequel to Baraka. These films on IMAX screens are hypnotic. Another: Microcosmos.
This looks like it might be good. But, surely, someone suggested to the lovely Imogen that a different surname might serve her better in her career.
Not having been paying too much attention to Comic-Con this year, the Punisher thing was a total surprise at the end. I wish they hadnt used the Dark Knight theme and pretended Jack Daniels ignites, but otherwise it was decent.
Trailer for the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, The Master. Looks quite good, which is something I rarely write about any trailer.
As a huge fan of Mass Effect, news of a completed script was a pleasant surprise. Hopefully they have a combination of renegade and paragon decisions from the game to keep things interesting.
Man of Steel teasers: I'm no expert on American geography, but I didn't really think of Kansas of having many beach-side towns, so I guess this movie is going to do it's fair share of monkeying with the mythos. I'm not an expert though, and aside from the old Fleischer cartoons, I don't really have a love of the Superman character. These trailers also cleave a little too close to Batman Begins for me; I'm willing to give it a chance though... Also, like Begins, there seems to be a skewed focus on the character's father. But a boy's best friend is his mother.
It does look bananas. Also, I had no idea that the Wachowski Brothers are now the Wachowski Brother and Sister. I gotta hand it to Larry / Lana - go big or go home, right?
The rumours had been floating around since said Wachowski's divorce. As Larry he had apparently been sporting more and more feminine looks, despite the fact that even when they made Speed Racer the name on the call sheet was Larry. One clue to the truth may have been during their cameo in the game Path of Neo, when Andy was represented as a blue 8 bit character, and Larry (still appearing as a man) was purple, rather than the obvious red... I'm all for her, and I'm glad to see how confident and happy she seems from is video (and Andy has lost a lot of weight), but part of me hopes she still has more transitioning to go. If only to look as pretty as she feels... I'm not as down on the Wachowskis as most others seem to be: I thought the Matrix sequels had a decent amount of merit, despite numerous flaws (the original film benefitted from years of developement, they should have concentrated on one at a time), and I would actually place Speed Racer above V for Vendetta, since both are pretty dumb but not incompetently made; SR just kind of revels in it (I didn't really watch the anime, but I'm an Alan Moore fan). Haven't seen Ninja Assasin, but I'd hazard a guess that it'd be a campy, brainless, enjoyable piece of fluff. So put me down as curious to see this.
Reloaded was pretty good; a fun action film. Revolutions was unbelievably grating shit. Honestly, it's one of the worst films I have ever seen, and that includes low budget crap. It's what happens when a filmmaker is continually told how brilliant, awesome, and perfect they are, and takes it very seriously. It had a lot of violence and some okay CGI action scenes, which was enough for me to find it enjoyable. However, it had virtually nothing else, and there are infinitely better campy and brainless action movies out there. That being said, what does it have to do with the Wachowskis? I can't find any connection they had to Ninja Assassin.
Don't forget that Reloaded and Revolutions was supposed to be made movie and were made as such then cut up. Just saying. I saw them seperately in theatre, wasn't in love. Then had a binge Matrix session a year later when they all came out on DVD and ended up like "That was some good shit right there." I like how they're now just "The Wachowskis". Looking forward to this movie too.
It was directed by James McTiegue, who was the second unit director for The Matrix trilogy. His first film actually directing was V For Vendetta (which I liked better than any of the Matrix films), which the Wachowskis produced and wrote. That's the connection, although I don't know if they had anything to do with that stupid fucking ninja movie. Oh, and Speed Racer was nothing short of terrible. It was hammy, stupid, embarrassing, and nothing short of nauseating to look at. It was like watching a photo-negative of poorly casted actors drumming out laughable dialogue against a Warner Bros. cartoon backdrop. I hated every second of that film, which wasn't necessary to make in the first place since Speed Racer is one of the worst and most overrated cartoons ever made. I NEVER got the cult following of something so bad.
