Here's the extended first look at F&F 6. I know the movies are ridiculous, but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy them.
There's even a joke about it in the trailer. "How do I smell baby oil?" The self-awareness of this series is amazing. Bill Simmons has a pretty great rundown of this trailer on Grantland. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/67333/running-diary-the-new-fast-furious-6-extended-trailer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood ... ed-trailer</a>
I agree with everything Simmons' said in that write up. The only thing better that movie, is the podcast Simmons is going to do with Carolla. Gold just waiting to happen.
Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves (who are still best friends) have both agreed they want to do a Bill & Ted reunion flick. Fuck off. Die, so I can have your Megadeth collection.
Okay. Now with the first one, we had a flat-out funny but NOT ground-breaking comedy. The second one was (as predicted) a completely anemic recycler of the the first film the should not have been filmed. This, I don't know. The trailer doesn't tell much but at least it doesn't look like it follows the theme of the first two. Let's hope they made this as an apology for the second one and actually wrote a script this time.
I gotta say, Gosling is, in my opinion, the most impressive and admirable from that particular Mickey Mouse club iteration. Britney's gone crazy. Xtina is hosting The Voice, or some such shit reality show. Timberlake is impressive, and he has comedy chops, but nowhere near the acting chops of Gosling. Gosling has gone from MM club insignificance to romantic darling (The Notebook and Lars and the Real Girl), indie hero (Blue Valentine, Drive), sex symbol (Crazy, Stupid, Love (I fuckin love that movie, by the way)), and action star (again, Drive, Gangster Squad, and whatever the fuck this is). Most importantly, he now carries off badass, sensitive, and mysterious, all without saying anything. This looks Japanese, stylized, and amazing, and I will see it. Edit: Oh, and if Dwayne Johnson isn't roiding like fucking crazy, I will eat my hat. But I will also watch Fast 6 like I've watched the other five: with popcorn, eagerly.
You don't understand how much I want to see this film. From the director of Drive and Bronson? There is NO WAY I am missing this. I've been waiting a year to see this trailer. Refn takes neo-noir to crazy new levels. His movies look like works of art. Gosling, a hometown boy here, has won so much admiration from me as an actor in the past few years. By the way, Refn and Gosling have signed on to write a sequel to Drive. If you liked that movie, of course.
From the Drunk Thread, but this seems pretty interesting. I like the idea of the movie, more than the actual movie will probably be.
Just saw the preview for this before watching Evil Dead, looks like a fresh and original premise. Will be seeing it.
I swear I had this idea when I was an angsty, sex-deprived teenager. Except in my mind it was called "Heaven Week" and you got to have sex with any 7 women in the world you wanted and murder any 7 dudes you felt deserved it, over the course of seven days. Also, this:
The Wolf of Wallstreet I cannot believe this movie is actually getting made. Jordan Belfort was one of the biggest pieces of shit on the Street in the 90s. Even to this day watching him in interviews and doing motivational speaking (???) is mind boggling. Hes obnoxious, narcissistic, and a sociopath. He seriously screwed a lot of people out of money with his boiler room bullshit. Every time a movie like this or the god awful Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is made, its gives a big fat black eye to the whole industry (aside from the actual real life criminals). The only reprieve is if Scorsese wants to portray him as a villain or at the very least, a tragic figure. Even so, I wont pay to see it just so it doesnt put anymore coin in Belforts pocket. If you want to know what its going to be about, watch Boiler Room. Same. Exact. Premise.
Aside from the apparent reluctance to say "Superman" in the movie at the end there... God I can't wait to see this. Superman is my favorite hero and this looks pretty awesome.
