Peter "The (p)Imp Dinklage from Game of Thrones, Summer Glau from Firefly and "Jason" from Tru Blood (How do I know that you ask? Fuck you. You don't know me) in a LARPing horror movie? Count me the fuck in
This film is friggin' beautiful looking. Aside from the tired "class war" nudge, I think this movie is going to rock the shit, considering who is in the chair for this:
From what seems bound to be a failed kickstarter, it looks to be that this labour of love from ADI's Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr will live on in some form. They were planning to make an all practical effects monster move, after a great deal of their work was replaced with CG in The Thing prequel (the director of which actually pledged to the kickstarter). They had Lance Henrikson on board to star, along with a team assembled of friends working for free that included four Oscar winners. The Kickstarterhas only made $230,000 of the $350,000 goal so far, which is disappointing, but considering that's only from less than 1800 backers, I think that says something for the passion of the fans that wanted to see CG take a back seat. Here's the new websitethat they've just started; I hope it indicates at least a do-over.
I had no idea Nolan was producing this....damn, that soundtrack sounds GOOD. I'm sold. Here's the Nokia trailer...
This looks like a new rehash of an old premise, but dammit. I like Timberlake and Affleck, so I'll watch it. http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/ru ... er/trailer
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug teaser trailer. I think Orlando Bloom is just CGI now, for some reason.
CGI DOES need to take a backseat, there is simply no arguing that. I'm fucking sick of it, another reason why I like Quentin Tarantino's director efforts-- he hates CGI. That crash in Death Proof (along with Zoe Bell's insane hood stunt)? All real courtest of The Nightmare Factory. One of the reasons The Thing (1982) still has so much power to chill ands scare the piss out of people was Rob Bottin's make-up effects. That was three decades ago and they are still every bit as astonishing. People didn't sleep for a week when they watched that film in the 80's. It was scary because it was really there. The remake was... I have to tell yo But if the remake/u, it was very worthy of the name. The CGI was decent, but the film itself was SO LOYAL to Carpenter's movie that you couldn't help but admire it. It was loyal like no other sequel/prequel/remake has in the history of horror films, actually. If that remake had the practical effects like Bottin created, I think it would have been as good as the first. All it was missing was Kurt Russell and his beard. I would live in that beard.
The Counselor, a screenplay from Cormac McCarthy and directed by Ridely Scott starring Michael Fassbender and his penis. "A lawyer finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking." Doesn't say much, but my interest is piqued since we haven't had anything from McCarthy since 2006. Looks as though he's returned to "No Country For Old Men" territory, which isn't a bad thing. Can Javier Bardem do a movie without weird hair?
22 Jump Street will be released June 13 2014. ..does that title mean the precinct moved across the road? And this look just wonderful, from Luc Besson and Scorsese:
