Isn't that part of the book though? Again, it's been years since I've read them, but I seem to remember a bunch of passages alluding to his nigh-impossible gun play.
I've been looking forward to it. Besides how incredible it looks, and who's behind the camera, it also has a peerless cast. I can't imagine it being less than awesome.
Personally, I think this looks fucking retarded. Guy Ritchie is not the guy who should be directing peculiar, big budget CGI porn. This shit IMMEDIETLY reminded me of "A Knight's Tale" which I hated with a passion: ...is there EVER going to be a better King Arthur movie than "Excaliber"? It wasn't a classic, but every other movie about this legend seems to blow.
You've got Jax Teller, Roose Bolton, and Littlefinger all in the same movie. I'm willing to give it a chance. And don't shit on A Knight's Tale. It's a classic.
Setting a boring movie about jousting to "She's All That" dialogue, exclusively obnoxious characters and a classic rock soundtrack is peculiar, not interesting. And that right there describes that movie in its entirety: peculiar but not interesting. I never got why so many people loved it.
In my defense, I was a teenage girl when it came out. As far as why people like it? Alan Tudyk. Personally, I'm incapable of disliking anything he's in. Also, Heath Lesger post 10 Things. For some reason it was on tv Easter weekend so I've actually watched it recently. It holds up as the slightly ridiculous but fun movie that it is.
Fuck. Yeah. The original is one of my all-time favourite movies, and this trailer looks absolutely amazing. I hope they haven't suggested or hinted at any major spoilers for the flick. Really REALLY looking forward to this one when it hits theatres.
Review of Valerian: "Imagine if someone projected an entire decade’s worth of sci-fi space epics on the same screen, at the same time. Imagine you were in the audience for that event. Now imagine, for some insane reason, you decided to pre-game for the experience by eating an entire bag full of mushrooms that had been garnished with a fine layer of France’s best crystal meth."
I've been a long-time fan of the comics that it was based on, and a huge fan of Luc Besson... cannot wait to see this movie. So far the reviews I've read have said it's like Ruby Rhod on acid.
I really liked this book, but I thought it had a few weaknesses. I am impressed by this trailer. I hope they got the rights to everything they wanted. Could be a nice merger of target audiences for today's teens and us 80s kids. I'm in.
Yeah, I hope so, too. That book has 800 billion pop culture references, and you don't have to have any rights to just mention a song (or video game, or movie) in a sentence on the written page. But, since it doesn't come out until next year, they're probably still working on rights. Rush's 2112 album features as a big plot point in the book. They probably just used Tom Sawyer in the Trailer because it's the most popular Rush song. (Although, it's entirely possible you were just trying to get a rise out of me, by knocking on Rush.)
Ya think? I actually thought it was a rather good choice for that trailer, and kind of hope that they keep it (or other Rush songs) for the actual movie.
