We definitely need to beef up the insulation and deal with some of the draftiness of this house. The weather is really nice here most of the year but winters can get pretty cold and we had some heat waves last summer where the AC couldn't keep up and it was about 85 in the house. I'm thinking blowing insulation in under the roof and replacing some of the windows would be a solid start.
If you can afford it, I can’t recommend spray foam insulation enough. It’s tempting to rip out sections of some walls just to have them apply it. ( I won’t, but it’s tempting. )
In the summer the heater comes on at 68, AC comes on at 73. When it’s cold outside, heater comes on at 70, AC at 75. I might be responsible for global warming
I hate blown cellulose insulation. We had it done a few years ago and every time I open up the door to the attic, that stuff gets absolutely everywhere.
My fiance, being Australian, complains if the heat in the house drops below 70. I'm walking around in shorts and she's under a blanket, with pants a sweater and sometimes a scarf on. Our house has good spray foam insulation in some spots, but it's an old giant victorian mansion with original windows so it's just drafty everywhere. Keeping the house at 70 is a chore, but the geothermal does a pretty good job. When it gets super cold out (15f/-18c) the geo can keep up, but the radiators can't pump out enough heat to warm certain rooms. We're thinking of putting in some bigger radiators in some rooms or an extra one in the smaller rooms. Wordle was pretty easy today, I'm 6/6 so far, never needing more then 4 guesses to get there. I'm waiting for a more challenging word that doesn't give you 2 letters off a common opening. Something like quirk or lymph.
I’ll be having a yin and yang kind of day. Leaving in a few moments to go to a memorial service for a friends mom who passed recently. A bunch of my high school friends will be there. Then tonight the Mrsanthropic and I are going to dinner and seeing a standup. Tom Papa if you’re curious.

Remember that "Historic" viral video of Antonio Brown from, like, a week ago? It's now an NFT. It's owner is auctioning it and expects it to bring 6 figures.
That’s how much money somebody will pay to own the rights of short video of an asshole being an asshole? Fuck the homeless, right?
Yesterday turned out to be a really good day. Friends mom was nearly 90 and passed quickly, so the service was more a remembrance and celebration than a mourning. It was great to see the guys again as well as some other people I haven’t seen since- the last funeral. That’s how it goes at this point in life. The Tom Papa show was a blast. I didn’t realize he was a local guy. Among other things we were born in the same town, and he was attending a central New Jersey university at the time a friend of mine was, and I was banned from campus for some drinking related indiscretions.
"How to tell people you're a douchebag without saying 'I'm a douchebag.'" Seriously, if you are not a trucker, fuck airhorns. You know that's illegal to install on your truck in Texas, right?
that’s why I’m not installing it on my truck. I’m turning a harbor freight drill into a rechargeable air horn
