You can have your "free" healthcare, I'll take cheap booze anyday, and not having to run to a "beer store" that closes at 7 and charges almost 30 bucks for a 24.
Well, you get more of some things for a higher cost of other things is the way I look at it. We pay more for things, but we also get wide well-kept roads, a widely-loved healthcare program, low crime and violence, clean infrastructure including public transportation that not only is efficient but isn't filthy and overcrowded. We still have unemployment issues and politicians who strictly talk through their ass while blowing smoke up everyone else's. and that's on all levels.
What fantasy world are you from, Space-Man? Bleep blorp blorp! Try nearly FORTY for 24 in Ontario. The LCBO has complete monopoly and therefore set their own market.
It sucks. I just grab a case of Blue Moon in Michigan and pay the duty if they send me in coming back. It's still cheaper, and it's Blue Moon so I a) can't get it here and b) worship it
Oh, and just for a comparison check this article out: <a class="postlink" href="http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/12/04/a-tale-of-two-cities-windsor-and-detroit-murder-rates-show-stark-contrast/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/12/04 ... -contrast/</a> Really simply put: In 2011, Windsor had 1 murder while Detroit had 358. A bridge or tunnel is all that separates these 2 cities.
30 bucks for a 24...? Theres a packy around the corner that sells 30 racks for 14 dollars. Oh boy do I love Cape traffic. Especially now when everyone is trying to make a last ditch attempt to get there for the season. Not only do you get the Worcester area locked up for miles, but the 495 exit and 84 exit are constantly fucked also.
And you guys get more holidays and vacation time. Sigh. JoeCanada, my marriage proposal still stands. Or in the event that he doesn't accept, I'll extend this to any Canadian willing to move to Vancouver.
Here, in the great country of Texas, (I say that because the prevalence of secessionists seems to be a growing trend) booze is relatively cheap, although our sales tax is 8.25%. But not having state income tax is nice. And there are guns a plenty. If I want to buy any gun provided its not fully automatic, and I'm not a convicted felon, I can do so within about 15 minutes time. And thats NOT having a concealed permit. I just with they sold Yuengling here.
That is one thing I don't miss about living up there. Trying to get on Cape on a Friday in the summer, or trying to get off Cape on Sunday.
That's it, I'm never moving to Canada. And I'll try to bitch less about the cost of beer here. I can get a 30 pack for about $15, and unless it's something crazy a six pack of import bottles is between $6-9.
If they sold Yuengling here, I'd give serious consideration to continuing a long distance marriage. I kid. Sorta.
I'm not speaking for Canada. In Quebec booze is far cheaper and available in more places. However, they pay out this ass for gas. Twice as much as you guys.
Fuck all you assholes talking about cheap beer. It makes me sad, we have to pay through the fucking nose for grog in Australia. A case of Corona which is pretty average costs $52. Some of the cheaper stuff you can get for $40 and you can get some nastier stuff for less than that but the good beer is always $40+ sometimes up to $60 or $70.
How the fuck do you afford to live there? I heard on a BBQ forum that if you want a simple Weber charcoal smoker or grill the markup over there is 700-1000%. I also heard new cars are crazy expensive, what do you all make 100k a year?
