Yeah, same thing with me. I heard about Intellectualwhores.com, and they had a link to Maddox, and soon after that, he posted a link to RMMB. It was 2006. That was a good year for me; I remember it fondly. Since we're all on the age-train, I turned 41 this year; never thought I'd get to be this old. On the plus side, I'm not going bald*, and I'm still 6'0" and 175 pounds. Only a few grey hairs, (mostly showing up in my beard). In other news, this was today's worksite: 103 degrees, nobody around for miles... It was wonderful. There was also a pumping station nearby that had this interesting Mario-themed graffiti: *I was seriously afraid of going bald for most of my life. All of the men in my mom's family went bald, and I always heard that line "It runs on the mother's side!" Well, if it hasn't done it by now, I don't think it's going to.
Man do I love turkey. I just smoked a turkey in the big green egg and it came out fucking amazing. A nice butter and cabela’s blackened seasoning dry rub has made it fucking amazing. I don’t know why I don’t cook turkey more often.
If your eyes fall out of your head, is it still considered "rolling your eyes" or is there another term for it?
Yeah. At that point you’re no longer rolling your eyes and are just backing away slowly while maintaining eye contact.
By “schtick” you of course mean “going completely fucking bonkers”. Does he have long hair and an acoustic guitar yet? Maddox in his own way went insane, alienating almost his entire fan base by being a gigantic shitbag to his own friends and trying to sue anybody involved with him for ridiculous amounts.
I watched a bit of a self defense video someone here posted a few years back it was, interesting. I havent read his site in years, looks like every other wanna be influencer trying to be a Joe Rogan light. Except focused on Self defense instead of MMA. Spoiler: This could explain some things Also, anyone know what all this trauma is he is referring to? I remember he obliquely referred to his mom fucking him up but dont remember much else.
I was 15 when I discovered his website. I believe the book was just about to come out. Would have been around 2003-04ish. found out about Maddox through him. I think normally it was the other way around? Maddox kinda annoyed me though, not sure why.
Can't remember what exactly it was called, but I found him through retardblog?(the special Ed teacher that wrote about her students)
I think the writer was called Rita. At the time, I found it to be extremely eye opening and darkly hilarious. The title and some of her phraseology was pretty insulting to the kids under her care, no doubt. However, I found Rita to really care about the kids, but be utterly frustrated with the parents and limitations of the school. I saw the blog almost as a pressure release.
I couldn't agree more, she seemed to care about the kids, frustrated at the parents that didn't give a shit and needed an outlet.
Many of the parents were utter, unrepentant trash. People at some extreme intersection of drug/poverty/mental health problems. Many of the kids were disabled because of their mom's lifestyle choices to begin with. Like I said... It was extremely eye opening. Edit- t Here https://tard-blog-mirror.blogspot.com/?m=1
Those parents made a very good argument for why it would be a good idea to have a license to have kids.
Maddox was the first edgy humor on the Internet for a lot of Millenial kids, which is probably why he got so popular.
I also discovered Tucker's website from Maddox linking to it. I am pretty sure that it was during my sophomore year of college, 2005-2006. That was also around the time that I joined the RMMB. I found out about Maddox from a friend during my senior year of high school, and for a brief time I thought that his website was probably the funniest thing that I had ever seen. But it only took me a couple of years to outgrow his brand of humor. I still followed his website and I still think that he is talented as a writer, but as Crown said he too seems to have gone off of the deep end. He also hasn't updated his site in over three years.
Maddox was the first to do that for a long time. Some of his shit truly was funny, but as with a lot of those guys he is his own worst enemy. I found out about Max, and then the RMMB walking past IHTSBIH in the book store and bought it on chance. I joined RMMB right around the RedHighHeels debacle because at the time I was a member/contributor for “The Phat Phree” (another early edge-comedy source) but Charlie DeMarco had shut it down to go back into designing websites. It was the only other funny message board I could find that didn’t suck. And we were doing ages too? I’m 45.
I found out about him because one of the guys in my freshman dorm told me about the site. Plus people were talking about it on the SA forums before they rabidly turned against him.
