Is it bad that my initial reaction was "what is Nett doing in the UK"? I'm sure it's not dementia or anything.
Each act has it's own restrictions, but the baseline minimum in the US is a 1500' ft ceiling with at least 3 miles visibility. Shows like the Thunderbirds & Blue Angeles have a high show and a low show they'll perform based on weather the day of. Next weekend is the Andrews AFB airshow here in DC. Fun story...as a young Lieutenant working on the Tyndall AFB airshow staff, I got the Thunderbird #2 pilot arrested for grand theft auto after a rental car went missing.
Yeah, to be clear, the ceiling was high enough to carry on, it just wasn't infinite... there was a ceiling. A lot of the regrouping and queuing were out over the city at under 2k feet, where normally it'd be closer to 5-6k feet. When the B-2 came over, I heard it off in the distance, but couldn't see it due to buildings/trees and the low altitude it was at... then it pulled up and powered up, and while I heard it, it was obscured until I saw it punch through some cloud at about 4k feet over my house. I basically had the rear end view of it through a break in the clouds as it climbed way the fuck up there.
I'm not sure if this was a recent Motley Crue concert or not, but I think it was? https://twitter.com/barbiebrookeecc/status/1569109385976201218?t=aGElYwJ9NQ6DiaA82XMX1A&s=19
Somehow "expecting no one to flash their tits at a Motley Crue concert" and "flashing your tits at a Motley Crue concert in 2022" strike me as equally absurd.
Rammstein had a 15 minute segment during their concert where they showed people flashing their tits on the screen above the stage. And I say “their” because it was ALL tits- small, large, pert, saggy, female and male. It was awesome and hilarious, all in good fun.
Sorry, that was meant more for fiveslide's post. I was trying to convey the ceiling can be pretty damn low and the show will still go on.
You definitely covered it well. I just figured the B2 would be something that was grounded in lowish clouds. But I've never been to a show in which one was demonstrated. Except for a low pass, what's it going to do at 1500'? My pilot friend from back home has it made. He goes to the end of his driveway, if he can see the mountains, he has visibility, if he can see the towers on top of the mountain, he has ceiling and can fly.
It was probably there for a fly-by the day before, and a static ground display... but this flight out looked like it was heading home. Watching / hearing / experiencing a B-2 take off from a smallish runway like London would be a show on it's own. I expect it took off, pointed to home, got some speed, then powered to altitude. It just so happened that most/all of London was on the ass-end of that last part, probably by design. It was under IFR as it was punching out through those clouds, for sure.
I'm more of a fan of the linear Zelda style, but as long as its just a temporary detour, I thought the open world was an interesting change of pace. I thought BotW was great, although it takes a little bit to get into. The environment and art style was just so well done, and they let the emergent behavior of the physics system do some really cool things.
I really enjoyed the remake of Link’s Awakening for the Switch. The original for Gameboy was the first game I ever bought myself.
Yeah that one was great. So was A Link Between Worlds, which is a quasi-remake of A Link to the Past.
