Trying to understand. Why the two single slices plus a whole cheesecake? Did you just decide to throw caution to the wind? Also what the fuck? Your zoo stuffs their own animals?
One slice for me, in a flavor I thought I might like. It was chocolate mousse cheesecake. Decent, but definitely not worth the price. Probably not worth the calories, I've had better desserts. One slice for Mom to take home with her. It was coconut cheesecake. So glad I didn't inherit that weirdo gene and grow to be a person that thinks coconut is a proper dessert. The 7" cake came home with us to split with the neighbor and for us all to eat over the next several days. It was a plain ol' strawberry topped cheesecake. The neighbors let the dogs out to pee while we were gone, and they like cheesecake, so it's a gesture of thanks.
Insane what people claim online. At this point though I’m convinced 99% of these are just morons making shit up for clicks.
The thing about the proposal to end DST, by making what's currently DST year-round, is that I don't think people appreciate just how dark mornings are going to be in Dec-Jan. It'll be bad enough in the eastern parts of time zones, where I've always lived (outer Chicago area, Vegas). But the western edge of a time zone, like Atlanta? It's still dark at 7:30 AM in September; add more than 90 minutes to that by the solstice.
3/14 - Happy Pi day! A list of non traditional pies: https://www.tastingtable.com/1220843/unique-pies-across-the-us/ I am looking for haupia recipes now.
You know what? FUCK THAT SHIT. FUCK THAT FUCKING SHIT. SUCK IT UP, BUTTERCUP. I'll take a dark morning over having an hour and a half of daylight stolen from me when I actually need it. The last thing we need is fat, lazy Americans having another excuse to NOT go outside and be active. Fuck anyone who disagrees with me, and I'll tell you that to your face.
I'd like to educate myself. Why is that bad? Darkness in the morning seems less troublesome than in the evening, imo (which is why I want to hear reasons). Personally, I run in the evenings. So in December, I have to leave work at 4:45p to be done by dark. Or, if I want to cut my grass on a Monday evening when it rained Sat & Sun. Kids in the yard playing after school would have longer. Kids rarely do recess time before 9:00am, so that wouldn't be a problem.
So, a little history lesson here. The US already tried staying completely on DST once back in 1974; however, due to the huge spike in morning traffic accidents and the concern of so many school kids having to be stuck in the dark either commuting to school, or waiting on buses, it was repealed less than one year later.
So here in Indiana on the far western edge of EDT, it's dark when the kids are getting on the bus anyway so it makes no difference here though I would assume further east it may make a little difference. I would also bet that there are more accidents associated with getting used to the time changes than if we just got used to it and stuck it out based on how long it takes me to adjust to losing an hour in the spring.
Being 30 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, I'm willing to bet I get sunshine an entire hour before you do and we're still in the same time zone.
I don't doubt that for a second, and we should not be in the eastern time zone, nor should we use DST. We didn't most of my childhood, until 2006 if I remember correctly and we still shouldn't. We would be the same time as Michigan and east for the summer and Chicago in the winter and I think that was better for us.
this is my complaint. I do my “outside shit” in the evening. Run, do yard work, that kinda crap. My wife laughed when I got a running headlamp. Who’s laughing now bitch?
This issue will be like everything else today. No one wants to compromise. Just alternate DST and no DST every other week during odd numbered months. You’re welcome.
The kids are in the dark for part of the time now, so I don't think that would make much difference. Also, the school calendar today is a lot different (at least in Georgia) than 1974. I wonder if speed limits, transportation networks, automobile & bus safety improvements since the 70's would make a difference.
