It's a lot of fun. We get out 4-5 days a week. We are in a small rural town so there are lots of farm animals around and we have destinations we ride to so we can see cows, horses, and goats. There are some bison and emus around too that we will see one day. I've learned a lot about biking and this town. There are certain roads to avoid, certain places to just use the sidewalk, and cut throughs in every direction. Especially with gas prices skyrocketing, people seem to admire the rig. I have had a freakish amount of people approach me about it. Several people have said they wished they had something like it when their kids were little. Hah. I go thru so much vinegar. I use it in my cloth diaper loads and in the dishwasher, where gunk and hard water builds up, gets sprayed out, and dried on my dishes pretty fast if I don't run a load with vinegar about once a week
One day from home.. 5 hour drive, max. The trip so far has been almost 11k kms, and 2.5 weeks. It’s been awesome. Last night camping until home and a real shower and shower beers.
Usually at grocery stores like Safeway or Walmart, I park alongside the cart return in the diagonal painted area. It's reasonably out of the way from cars and people and I'm able to lock up properly. The big town park, there's a metal rail fence. The library, they have a huge heavy bolted down bike rack. Oh yeah. Papa Murphy, I pull up right by the door and just run inside to grab my pizza. At the park small neighborhood park, I just use the U lock on the front wheel and frame while I play with little b.
I cannot believe I'm about to go pick up a 39 foot travel trailer to rent for a few days. For four people. It sleeps 11. My wife thought the "extra space would be nice." Probably because she doesn't have to drive the truck while towing it.
Dude. I just hauled my 30' through 10 lanes of Toronto traffic. 5 lanes each way. With construction everywhere. Talk about fucking exhausting. Today we drove the last 400 kms home, and while it's probably a half of a day we'd normally drive, it was by far the most stressful. Heavy Toronto traffic through construction was a major butt clencher, and I'm mentally wiped now that it's over. Trip done. One day later than expected. Just under 11k kms driven. Just under 70 lbs of fish caught. Way too much spent on diesel, but totally worth it. And my puppy has grown into an adolescent and is a real pain in the ass.
just got to the campsite. Most of the way was two lane highways(each side), with those concrete construction barriers hugging the lanes. The crosswind was a bitch to deal with under those conditions. Fortunately it was only about a 3 hour drive. Now I totally understand why truckers try to time it to where they’re going through major cities at night
Y'all ever had one of those hanging fly bag traps fill up? I think we're on week 3 and that sucker is just full. There's a bunch of maggots in there too.
I put out a carpenter bee glue trap because there were 4-5 of them that must have been living in my deck. A few days later the entire surface was completely covered in dead flies, which was surprising because I think I can count on one hand how many times I've even noticed a fly around my house.
I guess it is possible since it emits an odor but we have a lot of flies due to the ducks and compost area so I was trying to be proactive before it got too bad this summer. Honestly makes me want to just hang multiple bags out at once. I still get a small swarm of them under the deck when the sun gets hot in the afternoon and they are right in front of the door.
How awesome of a movie is “Tremors”? People could watch it 100 years from now and the special effects will still rock, the characters will still be awesome.
It's sort of an acknowledged thing among film nerds that the Tremors script is perfect. Yeah it may be a lowbrow monster movie, but there isn't an ounce of fat on that script.
https://twitter.com/JoePompliano/status/1533888946723340288 I, on the other hand, have to make a mental note that I've locked a door. Or I'm driven to check it to make sure.
