I’ll second this. I never lived that close to Wallingford, but whenever we visit my wife’s mom, we always make a point to go there.
A few days makes a big difference. During the week you just about have the whole lake to yourself. I didn't get pics but one boat got swamped by wake at the end of the point and nearly sank.
That's actually pretty dangerous. With really large babies like that, the mother's body/placenta is not able to provide enough oxygen to the fetus. My brother was an oz shy of 11lbs. My mom was proud of having huge babies but it's really pointless. She was super overdue on all of us because she let her body "decide when it was time," which never happened, and still needed to be induced. I think there are some really nasty practices around childbirth and consent with treatments in a hospital setting, specifically elective C sections, but overall the benefits are the difference between life and death. I played with the idea of a home birth. Hospital just down the road, that's enough, right? Hubs convinced me to have a typical delivery because it was our first baby and he's pretty risk averse, which I am grateful for, because those few minutes would have meant I was dead. Like, literally, I needed treatment immediately after delivery or it was lights out forever. So yay, maternal medicine.
From what i have been told he was 3 weeks over due and the doctors didn't induce for what ever reason.
Northern BC. I didn't pay for it, but the company did. The fucked up thing is most of the wood product is probably made near here.
The FBI hacked the group that hacked the Colonial Pipeline and stole back $2.3 million in bitcoin that had been paid as a ransom. Brilliantly played Uno reverse card. Spoiler
It’s about $80 a sheet here in NJ. Weekend Recap: the Beer fest in AC was awesome. Positives: An unbelievable number of craft breweries An amazing selection of superb beer Good music, great crowd A great time with the brother-in-law and high school friends Spent some time talking with Kelsey Grammer. His beer is very good (Faith American) Negatives: Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I was half convinced we would be mugged or have our room broken into Atlantic City is a shithole. Unless you make a beeline to Ocean, or Borgata or Harrrahs and never leave the property, it’s a shitshow. The boardwalk area particularly. What a fucking waste of a great opportunity. Last call at 12:30 at the Tropicana?! Are you fucking serious? I’ve never seen any last call of any kind at a casino ever. Maybe this is a reflection of my admittedly poor (or fantastic) drinking habits, but paying $20 for a drink where I could barely taste the alcohol infuriated me. Dude AC sucks. Give people some fucking reason to want to bother to come down there.
...and that's the reason I've shifted my vision of building on one of my properties to buying something already standing. Speaking of which, the old farm house I made an offer on? Apparently someone wanted to live out in the boonies more than me and offered more money. Oh well...
I heard that investors are buying homes in the Portland area to tear down and piece out as lumber and supplies for new builds elsewhere. I haven't seen it firsthand, but with the price of building supplies it would not surprise me. Especially if the house has old growth timber and deco architectural features.
Well, shit. Looks like Crown and my home town just made national news. https://globalnews.ca/news/7928411/...e-pedestrians-dead-london-ontario-police/amp/
I know they've been doing that in Thailand for years. My dad bought one of my sister's relatives a house and found out a few months later they sold the building for the lumber.
They somewhat do that in northern Virginia. It's fairly common in Arlington for older houses to sell for the lot where the house is knocked down and replaced by a small McMansion.
There is something outside in the woods that sounds like a goose honking but REALLY fucking loud. It's "calling" every 5-10 seconds and it's ruining the nice firefly disco going on in my back yard.
