I try to get four years out of a phone, so battery capacity is on its last legs by the time I get a new one. That shock transition though, going from "this phone will die if unplugged for ten minutes" on the old phone to "a charge will last five days" on the new phone... hoo boy it feels good.
Word. Once your battery gets swollen they don’t charge for shit, throw a shitty/faulting charge cord into the mix and you’re in for a night of high-volume profanities.
BRO I just moved from an Apple 6+ to a 13 and it's astounding. The things I can do now, walking around in a warehouse parking lot, would make my old phone seizure and explode.
I know iPhones are great and everyone that has one loves them. But all my friends and family that have them are constantly plugging them in or carrying a charger pack. I've always been a BlackBerry then Android guy. My BlackBerry Motion that I got rid of last year and my current Samsung Galaxy were/are rarely below 50% when I put it on the charger when I go to bed.
I have a battery pack but in my experience, the people who constantly carry one with them are just on their phones too much. Any phone will need constant charging if they scroll Facebook all day or something.
Yep... I have one of the new 13's. The Max. It's fucking amazing. Longest battery life of any phone I've ever had. And the camera is absolutely stunning... especially the long exposure night shots.
Agreed. I have a Sony mirrorless camera and it’s about as good as that one. It really is amazing how it utilizes whatever lighting you’re working with.
Work recently made me switch over to an iPhone 12 after being a Galaxy guy for my last few phones. I fucking hate it: It doesn't come with a charger. It comes with a cord that goes to USB-C. Fucking nothing that generates power has a USB-C outlet. So you have then have to buy after market converters that do USB-C to wall plug and/or USB-C -> USB-A. Work only gave me the wall plug adaptor so it's going to be dead a lot No headphone jack. What jack-off decided that? So I have a $150 set of headphones that I can do fuck all with on this phone Can't just put mp3's, or video files, or any document for that matter directly on the phone. Android you plug into a computer with USB-A, drag and drop any type of file you want onto the phone, and if there is no native app to play it, you can find one. iPhone? Does it still use that absoultely heinous itunes interface? Probably, I haven't looked. The last iPhone I had was 2014 and I uploaded 20 gigs of music into iTunes. 5 gigs of it failed, and now the other 15 gigs are no longer in my library so fucked if I know. Can't plug my headphones into it anyway so who gives a shit Everything looks like shit on the screen. I haven't looked at the specs but the S9 had way better/sharper resolution. I haven't compared the cameras but my wife is the picture taker anyway Chrome doesn't work worth shit on it compared to android. No tab groups, and tabbed browsing in general is clunky. Quick page reload is hard to find and doesn't work 3/4 of the time. Same with the Gmail app, doesn't break the emails into the same groups as on a desktop (Primary, Social, Promotion) The fact that people pay way more for these POSs than they would for an android, which is way better, is baffaling and reinforces the idea that most people are brainwashed stooges. But maybe I'm just old and bitter and don't like change.
When you’ve had an iPhone since 2008, that’s one reason why you keep buying them. Although every iOS update involves changes that you hate for a while, or have to specifically revert to the old style. Anybody else update their phone, and when Safari put the address bar at the bottom, spent a week deleting their google searches right after typing them, because the “X” was in the same spot the “send” button is for texting?
I can tell you have an iPhone, lol. I've had days in the last few weeks where I've used my phone all day for web browsing and phone calls, and it still wasn't below 30% when I plugged it in. I just looked it up, and my Samsung Galaxy A52 5G has 33% longer battery life than iPhone 12 and 25% longer than iPhone 13. The only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did is wireless charging. And, even though I usually use Bluetooth, it does have a headphone jack. I think I'll stick with Android.
This was a game changer for me. I have a wireless charging stand at my desk and on my bedside table, the 2 places I tend to spend the most time at in any week. When I'm there, the phone is resting in the cradle charging. It sounds stupid, but not having any cable to plug/unplug makes it stupid easy to use, and it sits the phone up so I can see it if I want to. Best $20 I've ever spent. I even travel with it. https://www.anker.com/ca/products/variant/powerwave-fast-wireless-charger-stand/A2521011
I had an iPhone for work and in 2016 was convinced by a friend and the IT place to switch to a Samsung when I switched employers. I did not last until the end of the contract. I found the Samsung to be a glitchy, shitty phone. I walked into the store with four months left to go and told them to please take me to an iPhone or that phone was going into the St. Claire river. It's what you're used to, I guess.
Yeah, this is my first Samsung and I like it so far. I had Nokia bar phones, but have had various different BlackBerry phones ever since.
my wife won't stop buying pointless throw pillows that I just have to move out of the way whenever I want to sit down on the couch or lay on the bed. So I have decided to counter this by purchasing my own throw pillows. things are about to get interesting
Pretty much. I don't like iOS at all and haven't owned an iPhone since the 3GS. But for every complaint about iPhones, there's one that's equally valid for Android. It's not like Google is the best steward of software, camera quality varies depending on vendor, and Apple isn't the only company to eschew the headphone jack. I mean, fuck, I can't even recommend an Android phone to my mom because Google's annual messaging platform changes and constantly shifting which app/company division "owns" certain aspects of the OS will cause her head to explode.
Are you just going to go for the shock value of quantity, or are you going to purchase high quality art and sayings on these pillows?
