We recently bought a minivan sight unseen from a university fleet auction online and it was hands down the best car buying experience I've ever had. We were sitting at the dinner table, got outbid a few times early on but ended up with a big, ugly blue Dodge Caravan for about 35% cheaper than comps. Pickup took less than 10 minutes and we booked a similarly efficient appointment at Secretary of State to get the registration and plates. Best part is that my husband couldn't perseverate and overthink it for weeks. And now we actually have a car that we can put 2 carseats in. So that's cool. Best/worst part is how ridiculous I feel rolling up in what has to be one of the lamest cars possible listening to 90s/00s rap as a massively pregnant 35 year old white lady.
I know many people relish it, but I do not. I hate the whole process. I did get a screaming deal towards the beginning of COVID, though. The local Subaru place had 6 sales people just sitting around when I walked in. On that day, the day I signed the deal, and the day I picked up the car, I never saw a single other person in the dealership. I'm pretty sure the sales guy would have included a night with his wife if it got me to buy a car in that ghost town.
Someone recently commented that we haven't seen @Juice in awhile and it got me thinking, has anyone interacted with @Rush-O-Matic lately? Rush, you stated you've had some medical issues, I hope you're ok @Revengeofthenerds, you've been eerily quiet as well. Did one of your MAGA relatives 'help' you off a ladder?
Nerds said he was taking a break from social media for a while. I think Juice said he was off on a vacation. And not sure what's up with Rush.
Actually... last post from him was when he said that he was going back to being an EMT after 20 years. Maybe big life changes are taking priority over hanging out here. Regardless, miss all those guys, hope they're doing OK.
Rush, according to his last post, got pissed off on the politics thread, and tired of you libs being wrong all the time. I, personally, don't care if y'all are wrong all the time, love y'all anyway.
Can’t tell if joking but outside of actual conservative spaces, this place is not that liberal at all. A few people are more left leaning, but if anything, it seems more moderate.
I hate dealing with car salesmen. It’s gotten a little easier since my brother works for a local dealership ( service, not sales ). I often tell them that I’m not interested in all the extras and the usual sales pitches. I know what I want, what I can afford, and that I will get up and walk at any minute, I’ve seen me do it. My brother will set me up with one of the better, less sleazy sales guys, so they get the picture pretty quick. But still the sales manager will sometimes try to sell me the extras. I just tune them out til they’re done and remind them I’d already said “no.”
