A guy on the road has weekly parties at his “Old Basement Tavern,” the “Backporch Inn and Karaoke Bar,” or his “Log Cabin Lodge and Shooting Range” each location on the property dependent on the weather. The Basement Tavern is a complete bar with TVs everywhere, popcorn machine, the works. It’s usually him, his wife and a couple family members but he posts videos regularly which are quite entertaining. He’s quite a character. Makes me wish I bought a bigger house with a bigger, finished basement. We’d have a pub down there.
I wish more homes in California had basements. I don't know if it's an earthquake thing or just trying to keep the ridiculous prices to a minimum.
I saw this quote on SM and cannot figure it out. I said to my wife "Do you think anyone will commit suicide because they could not get an abortion?" She instantly replied "Yes" and then she added "There will be all those boyfriends and husbands that murder them because they couldn't get one too" and that shook my fucking world. (MAN WROTE) I think the "they couldn't get one too" is throwing me off. The men want abortions also? Or are they really saying that guys will murder their wife/GF along with their unborn child because the wife/GF can't get an abortion?
I have zero doubt that there already have been more suicides and murders and that number will only grow.
All of the above. I think it's an age related development. But I'm noticing a lot of men who I socialize (usually the husband of a friend) with are awful partners with what little I'm told being borderline or straight up abusive. Things are not going to be easier for women.
Maybe me being a male and never having needed an abortion for a spouse/GF is clouding my vision and I agree that an extreme small number women will resort to suicide which is horrifying but is a fear of being murdered by their SO because they can't get an abortion a thing?
Usually the sequence of events is: woman gets pregnant by accident (her perspective. Sometimes it's not an accident by actions of the man). Abusive and coercive behavior from male partner ramp up. Woman either submits or bucks and tries to make a change without his approval, such as leaving him, getting an abortion in another state or by DIY methods, or putting kid of for adoption. Abuse escalates and woman is dead. Wom-idiots: if your partner chokes you in anger EVER, GET OUT NOW. It WILL escalate and you WILL die.
There are already plenty of instances where a wife/GF gets murdered because they won't get an abortion. Not hard to extrapolate that out to when they simply can't get one.
I have zero doubts that happens but it's so against every thought in my head that I have a hard time mentally seeing it. The thought "My SO got pregnant and can't get an abortion anymore so I'll just murder them" is so far out there for me that I can't picture it happening even knowing that it does.
Hell, there’s instances of murder because divorce is seen as such a forbidden decision. The spouse gets caught because their internet searches are chock full of “how much of (poison) does it take to kill someone” or “undetectable in autopsy” type shit. As long as a lot of people have a fear of “people knowing I may have some faults,” then murder is an outcome.
It comes down to projection. A lot of people have a hard time imagining certain crimes happen on any routine basis because they would never commit that themselves. I've noticed a lot of good men who mostly do the right things will defend "all men" because they would not aggressively stalk a woman and rape her. They would not lay hands on their partner, so that's out of bounds. They would not lie or manipulate, so most men are by default honest. I've also noticed that otherwise well socialized men will be controlling and abusive to their wives. Why is that? The murder thing is just the pinnacle of control.
This actually happened in my hometown - https://www.southbendtribune.com/st...bbing-death-of-pregnant-17-year-old/43901337/ And this is pre Roe V Wade being overturned, so I imagine it has only gotten worse.
And it’s here once again. Tonight we’re installing more lighting, including 2 strobe lights, hopefully firing up a new industrial strength fog machine ( to replace the half dozen we’ve burnt out), and we have some new beer and edibles on tap. I may have to take tomorrow off.
