Hauling a heavy, ceramic egg seems like a PITA. I have a medium one and I’m terrified of breaking it whenever I need to move it.
i have one as a backup. Worked very well for cooking on the beach, and when power goes out. And like if I wanna take it to the dock and fish. Just something great to have on hand. a hot plate you can plug into your car also works wonders in a pinch
I’ve seen some pretty decadent set-ups that come with RV travellers. This one I encountered near Niagara Falls had its outer luggage compartment retrofitted with a grill and breakfast griddle that slid out on a bearing track. It was very, VERY cool. I saw another where a large TV slid out of one luggage compartment, and the next compartment out slides the leather reclining sofa. I never considered “decadence” when it came to camping, but sometimes you see shit that is just too cool not to admire —- and envy.
Regarding the BGE in a camper, I just came across this about a month ago. Might provide some inspiration (perhaps for a truck bed pull out that follows a similar approach).
Just get a steel keg smoker with the hitch adapter, hang it off the back of your truck or the airstream.
You attach that to a flying cloud and everyone will be following you around, wondering where the party is.
A buddy of mine uses a regular Weber Kettle charcoal grill with the smoker basket inserts for smoking and it works pretty well. Obviously not the ideal setup, but it would be a lot easier to pack and setup.
TIL that Lay's still makes barbecue corn chips in Canada. Yet, in the country of their origin, they don't. WTF Lays?
I may be paying $10.00 a bag to import some via Amazon. I love those things with extra sharp cheddar. All we can get here are plain or chili cheese varieties, fuckers.
Want me to ruin your day the same way someone ruined one of mine a decade ago? Open a bag of Fritos and smell them, really take in the smell and commit it to memory. Then go find a dog, any dog will do, and smell its paws. They smell the same! Don't shoot the messenger.
Ebay has cheaper listings, but 8 bags is a bit much. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3335976140...rentrq:fabd2f941780a1b503d62d75ffe65b10|iid:1
