You live in Ohio right? You still see people calling out people for ordering it around here. The downtown bars you won’t.
It's a huge issue for them that was even talked about on their last earning's call. There's major backlash to it that is causing them to lose a shit-ton of revenue.
I get that it’s a political thing but holy Christ Bud Lite sucks. It is truly a disgusting beer, and the only beer that’s ever given me a hangover as I was drinking it. If culture wars are what finally pushes it off a cliff, good riddance.
My brother had a case in his cart at Costco and some dude walks by and says with a sarcastic laugh "Bud Light huh?" He replied "Yep, now that all the bigots don't buy it, I can get it super cheap!!" He said the dudes face just collapsed
Yeah. I live in the northern Cincinnati suburbs. I also don’t frequent bars much. I am ignorant of the kids. I don’t drink bud light. I was also not trying to make a political statement. I just bought some cheap beer to hand out. People drank all of my hard seltzers. Now I guess I need to find a hard core liberal to give these other 22 cans to.
A couple of weeks ago I went to visit a friend at his house who I hadn't seen in about a year. He brought me a Miller Lite. This was surprising, because he had always been a Bud Light guy. I asked him why he didn't have Bud, and he looked at me funny and asked "are you calling me gay?" I didn't know what the hell he was talking about at first, and then he mentioned the controversy. I definitely remembered hearing about it, but I hadn't realized that it became such a big deal. But I'm not on any social media anymore, so that may be why I was oblivious to it. But I have always been more of a Miller than a Bud person. I know, they're both near the bottom of the barrel when it comes to beers. But I honestly don't even really like IPAs that much and am happier with cheap beer.
I know one person at our club in particular who boycotted Bud Light. He immediately switched to Miller Lite while that was on tap and now drinks Busch Lite. He's obviously not the only one, since it disappeared from the tap system pretty quickly.
I'll drink Bud Light from a tap, but miss me with that aluminum bottle bullshit. Feels/tastes Iike I'm blowing Commander Data or something.
A lot of people around here have been switching to Garage Beer lately in place of Bud Light or Miller Lite. Granted, it's brewed here in Columbus, so it's easy to find, but it's become my go-to whenever I want to drink something that isn't a double IPA or stout. It also tastes better than both, but still has that cheap beer taste.
I guess maybe not the taste specifically, but it's something you can drink 5 or 6 of and not be completely wasted. It's priced and has a similar abv to the macro light beers, but with none of the stigma.
I really prefer to drink a different beer for the occasion. If I have just finished mowing the lawn in 100 degree heat, I much prefer a Coors or Red Stripe lager than anything heavier or more expensive.. If I am having a New York steak, then give my a nice ale. Much like wine, I do think you can have a different beer for a different occasion. Plus just a shout out to GTE, he knows what it is like to be mowing on a 100 plus Central Valley day.
