Very true. Scourges of people illegally dumping sewage into the storm drain as their ”shitter was full”.
I just realized today that "Smell the Magic" is a perfect album. All gas, no brakes. Nothing but bangers. Solid riffs. Some great lines, too: "passed out drunk on the living room floor; gets up and pukes so she can drink some more" - Death wish "got so much clit she don't need no balls" - Fast and Frightening
All because of that absolute shit of a show. I'll put the Big Bang Theory up as the worst "popular" sitcom ever. Barely edging out Two and a Half Men
I actually still enjoy Full House, Family Matters, and Step by Step. But I don't think that I made it more than three episodes into Fuller House before I stopped watching it. For me Boy Meets World is the worst among the sitcoms that I watched as a kid. It wasn't my favorite then but it holds up especially poorly now, particularly the college episodes.
Uncle Jesse has to be one of the gayest concepts ever on what a “cool guy” is. Yet Stamos is so good-looking he still comes out of it as a sex symbol.
I barely remember those because I was just a kid and IMO, kids get a pass because they're kids and they like dumb shit lol. Sheldon has to be one of the most insufferable characters ever in a sitcom. Fuck, I sound like He Who Must Not Be Named.
I'll be honest, I don't hate Two and a Half Men in the Charlie Sheen years. I am under no illusions about the quality of the show. But Jake makes me laugh a lot. My in-laws liked Big Bang Theory, and fucking hell, that has to be one of the worst shows I've ever watched in life. It's as if stupid people sat around theorizing about what smart people with STEM degrees would find funny, without ever having met a smart person - which is almost certainly what was happening. They then moved onto Young Sheldon. I like my in-laws but they have appalling taste in TV shows.
Believe it or not Big Bang Theory had a science advisor who is a physicist that would vet the various equations shown on whiteboards etc on the show, and advise on any science based jokes. That show is definitely aimed at actual STEM fields folks. I don’t really care for it, mostly because Galecki has made a career of playing a whiny pussy and this role is indistinguishable from all of his other roles. Two and a half men- if you didn’t find it worth watching simply for whatever hot chick Sheen was cavorting with any given episode, I don’t know what to tell you.
The thing about BBT that sucks is that is doesn’t have jokes. It doesn’t have punchlines. It has four nerdy-looking guys, and when they say “nerd things” that cues the fake audience that doesn’t exist to laugh at the non-joke. Then the dickless dads and wine-moms sitting at home watching will laugh along with the laughtrack because they don’t even know what is legitimately funny, so they don’t know how to legitimately laugh. The same boring idiots that love Prairie Home Companion or various other NPR trash are the same ones who put this shit on a pedestal.
It does exist. I attended a taping of the show once. Unfortunately I was not included in the laugh track because I didn't laugh.
I watched some laugh track stuff when I was a kid. Family Matters is the only I can remember off the top of my head. Once I watched the prime years of The Simpsons and Seinfeld when I was a kid, there was really no going back to hack stuff. Same goes with The Sopranos and Deadwood with dramas. Not much I keep up with now except true crime docs on various streamers.
Normal TV is dead to me. I hardly ever watch it. I'd say 50% of my content now comes from YouTube or Nebula, and the other 50% I torrent from various streaming services. I still pay for cable, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Cable is for my mom, who is addicted to a bunch of shit, and Netflix because they were the OG's and I don't mind supporting them, and Prime because of the free shipping. Most Netflix or Prime shows I watch, I'll torrent them and watch via Plex and probably end up storing away for later if I wanted. Old habits die hard I guess.
AMAZON HAS COMMERCIALS NOW. I have paramount + for Star Trek and peacock for the epl games. 6 bucks a month for each isn’t bad. My biggest splurge is for Max for all their old content and decent first run movies.
Honestly the two I pay 6 bucks a month have commercials and honestly not all that bad when compared to network tv. Amazon pisses me off because the subscription is high as hell to begin with and there really isn’t a way to opt out of prime video and pay less for your subscription. I honestly don’t know if I actually watch anything on there.
