It’s an autobiography but David Goggins “can’t hurt me” was amazing. Grew up black in a racist white area, had a dad that beat the shit out of him all the time and barely made it through school. Grew up, became morbidly obese with a shitty job. Then turned things around, lost the weight, became a Navy Seal, then went on to ultra marathons. The audio version finishes each chapter with a talk between him and the narrator in a podcast like format. It’s great.

One my normal dog walk for the past couple of weeks i have seen an old Chevy k-truck(mid 90's) with a Wyoming plates parked outside a house. Just weird most people wouldn't drive that on a highway for any length of time. For reference from here to Cheyenne is 3100km(1925mi).
Last year I sold my 1995 Silverado with 184k miles on the clock to some dude in Michigan. He just needed a beater truck but all the ones near him are rust buckets. He flew in and drove it home. About 2300 miles.
That's not a lot of miles for a Silverado. Or an F150. I routinely see Chevy and Ford trucks in the shop with 250k+ miles.
I bought a 2500 diesel solely for the reason of dying in that truck one day. I heard 500k-1M miles aren’t uncommon on those. Only question is which goes our first- The Duramax engine of the Allison transmission?
Is that really a question? The engine will easily outlast the transmission. I only have 440k on my Chevy Silverado. I'm on my third transmission, though. The original (60k warranty, went out at 65), factory new replacement (100k warranty, went out about 135k), and that one was rebuilt and has lasted about 240k.
you have a diesel? if not you don't have the allison. that is a hard question they are both equally strong.
Dad had one with 500k+ on it, with a manual transmission. The slave or master cylinders needed replacement about every 100k. I think that and the clutch assembly were the only transmission components he had replaced for a half million mile (before the odometer died) truck. I am sitting here looking at this Tacoma going...bitch better get to 200k before I die. I have had it since November, and put 4k on it.
No I do not have a diesel. I didn't mean to imply I had the Allison transmission - just that it's been my personal and general experience that transmissions are more likely to fail than engines. But, I will defer to you if that's not the case here.
Is there a good way to increase the volume of a recording by a whole flipping lot? Like 1000% or more. I have a call recorder for a billing question that apparently was answered wrong but I can only hear myself on the call. The other person is barely a murmur. I don't even know if increasing the volume will help but it is worth a shot. I'm trying a program called Audacity and it isn't helping much.
So apparently a group of girlfriends an I are headed to get piercings on Saturday. The original plan was nostril piercings but now my best friend might get her nipples pierced and I sort of miss mine and I’m considering it. I’m one of those weird people who, back when I had anything pierced, my nostril piercing hurt worse than my nipples or my downstairs piercing. So I’ve been talking myself in and out of everything since we first started talking about it. Just to show my age, I’m mostly excited about having brunch beforehand. My job is stupid about facial piercings so it’s a whole thing but I’ve worked there for over a decade and they’re not going to fire me so I’m not that concerned on that front.
