Nah, I don't want to provide them with a life of idle riches. I have no more tax advantaged space. I've done some assessment on 529s vs other types of investment accounts, I was mostly looking to see if there are interesting ideas I've overlooked outside of that. I'm sure they'd appreciate a 529 or an investment account - like I said, none of us are rich, so it's not like money means nothing. Just trying to put some thought into this. They're good on "stuff." The wife's family is over-eager about that kind of thing.
Got it. You mentioned setting up a trust. You can go that route, but it’s definitely a rabbit hole in terms what you can do and the options regarding how to do them (far too many to list here). It’s also generally expensive to setup a trust. It may not be worth it unless you are going to be giving them in the upper 5-digit range or more.
Seriously. I looked in the mirror, and was like “…fuck.” I even have a habit of doing that frown-smile expression too. The issue is, I’m most definitely starting to go bald. So I don’t realize my hair is getting too long until the sides go all-out like that.
It's about 500K SF, but hard to capture in a picture. Definitely just work though and not like it's a pleasurable indulgence. It is pleasant to be in this time of year though so long as you pretend like you don't desperately need people to come in and buy this stuff before it starts going to shit.. while it's 30 degrees out and blowing snow yet.
It's going to be a couple of very interesting years for the industry. You Canadians are hiding all of the peat moss and charging a fortune for it, natural gas prices are up a little more than double, those coco containers now cost more to ship in from India than the cost of the containers themselves, the plastic companies are requiring orders to be placed a minimum of 12 months out and they won't quote prices until the day they ship it because they are going up so much, and labor is near nonexistent. I'm always pretty doom and gloom this time of year, but I think we're going to see a lot of Mom and Pop places as well as sub-growers disappear here shortly as they find themselves unable to get the price increases they need to support the increased costs. Which is going to make it a lot harder for the consumer to get the things they actually want.
I actually bought a shit load of jute etc from AliExpress about 5 months ago for pennies on the dollar for what it resales for around here. It’s probably coated in lead and the dead skin of children but it should work out for my hanging baskets this year.
A few minutes ago, I was like...why is everything so quiet today? Because it's 4/20, and weed is legal here. Work wife said she went to get coffee at 7 a.m. and you could smell it wafting down the street....
A guy at work made some thinly veiled reference to it on a team meeting call today. My boss was not impressed. As someone who takes a THC edible nightly, weed culture makes me cringe.
I'm genuinely curious what constitutes weed culture. Phish, Bob Marley and most of the Ben and Jerry's flavors?
The latter. My wife has a friend that is all about the “Hurr durr it’s wine o’clock ” Just shut the fuck up and drink your alcohol quietly like an adult.
