Dogwoods can be finicky. They need shade, especially in the afternoon and need water, but the soil cannot be too wet. We went through three before giving up and replacing with a hybrid magnolia.
You ain't lying. We lost 8 of 10 we planted two years ago. They were all really small, the two that lived have really struggled, but I think they're going to add some good growth this year. Just picked up another today, about 6 feet tall, looks healthy and robust. I think it will do OK.
They thrive in the wild around here, in exactly the conditions you describe. They’re usually part of the forest understory, so they are usually shaded, and the climate in the mid-Atlantic area means they get plenty of water. I’ve transplanted dogwoods and Japanese maple from the woods to my property and they do okay. Stick them in the middle of a lawn in full sun and they might not do so well.
Growing up in FL, I saw my share of lightning storms but rarely get them out here. So I get real excited when we do get them. I'll turn the TV/music off and sit by a window watching and listening to the thunder. The wifey just said "Geez, with all this thunder I thought you'd be outside jacking off" She doesn't usually make jokes like that so it made me laugh for 30 secs straight. Not the greatest story but no one else is posting shit today...
Well, I got my Product Manager fired today after 6 weeks of hell, so the entire team was in very high spirits. It was so bad that when the announcement was made in our slack channel that she was leaving, not a SINGLE person out of the 40 in there, made any comment. No "nice to work with you", or "good luck in your new project", or "keep in touch"... just silence. (Except me, as I'm the one who made the announcement). After about 20 mins, one of our devs posted "Need this PR reviewed..." So cold... but so deserved. She was beyond useless, and it took our SVP screaming at HR to get them to do something about it. We need a Hooli Roof at work....
Useless? A Product Manager? Get out of town. But she must have pretty bad to warrant that kind of exit lol.
You have no idea. This was her first gig where she wasn’t just overseeing others who did the actual work. After 2 months of working on shit as the person who was driving our product (theoretically) she was unable to give an SVP a 30 second elevator pitch never mind the business use case. That was the final straw. She embarrassed the entire team on the call. My dev team articulated shit better than she did.
I was in Harbor Town at Hilton Head Island, SC last night walking along the pier. I was like, hey, that sailboat is Stars & Stripes. Is that Dennis Connor's America's Cup winning boat? From 1987? Yes. Yes it is. So, that was cool.
Well this snippet of an email below is from my boss(storeroom/inventory), i am pretty sure i have ranted about him lots before. He has been in the position for about a year. So he should know where to get what type of parts, but i am pretty sure all of you can figure out the really dumb part
Definitely felt it here. Loud as hell- seemed like the house was coming down until we realized what it was.
I have never heard of this guy and just went down the rabbit hole and wasted an entire day watching his vids. Now the wifey is irritated with me because I didn't do shit around the house
