They'll probably start unloading it (if they haven't already), and try to surround it with buoys and float it a little higher, so it can be tugged one way or another. If it sinks, it still blocks the canal, and it's not like they can vaporize a container ship. One of the larger implications for this is the emphasis it places on alternative shipping paths through Europe, which Russia has been tinkering with for the past millenium.
Can't Elon Musk and James Cameron get together to save the day? Between the Boring Company's equipment and the sunken boat airbag lifter thingies, this should be possible.
They're making this much to difficult. Just strap like 100 JATO's on the forward starboard and 100 on the aft port and set them all off at the same time.
What kind of magical missile strike is going to effectively wipe the ship off the face of the earth (not leaving enormous pieces of it floating or sinking in the canal, still blocking things) without destroying the neighboring ships and the canal itself, not to mention releasing whatever toxic materials it might be carrying?
Guys, guys, this is easy. Drop all the napalm leftover from the Vietnam war in the Arctic. Melting ice raises the sea level. Boat floats away. Booyah.
There is no easy solve. This is as fucked as fucked could possibly be. One of the largest vehicles on the planet, fully loaded. Bagger 288 is probably the only man-made thing heavier. Green Lantern’s ring will not budge that fucking thing an inch. That ship is the Suez dam now and people had better start fuelling and going around Africa, because that fucking thing is going nowhere for a long time.
I'm not sure it has any locks in it. It's the locks that you can control the water levels, etc, which would enable that part of the canal to be flooded... and I'm not sure that the amount of flooding they'd need to do without a lock wouldn't fuck up a lot of the land around the current canal, as it looks pretty flat. I think they need to bring in a team of mining/excavation experts to help them out. Spoiler They need to find the GLORY HOLE!!!!
There are no locks. You can look at it on Google maps. It is literally a trench dug through sand like you used to do at the beach.
this may be a dumb and/or oversimplified question, but.... why wasn't this kind of scenario already predicted and contingency plans made?
Yeah, that’s what I saw as well but am no clogged canal expert so didn’t want to speak authoritatively.
