Hol-eee shit, what an amazing show that was. The pyrotechnics were incredible, they sounded great, everything about was awesome. The 2+ year wait was worth it.
I was really surprised at how many Spanish people were at the show. Must be a decent subsect that gets down to German industrial rock. I need to stop doing these last minute. Found out I way overpaid through SeatGeek day of. If I actually end up scoring Pearl Jam tickets I’m going to be paying a hella premium.
We saw the same thing here. Lot’s of Latin folks, some Asian, Israelis sitting next to us - a pretty diverse crowd.
This is pretty fucked... I got a bit of some sort of rash/fungal thing on my hip area a few weeks ago... figured it was just some sort of reaction to soap in the laundry, that kind of thing. It was probably something I picked up on my cross-country trip, from some swampy bog of some sort. It ended up getting pretty bad and killed off some layers of skin, making it all raw. Like, super raw. Freshly peeled blister raw. Went to the doc, and he gave me some anti-fungals to help get rid of it, but now I have a huge area of raw skin that is like an open wound. It just leaks fluid and is all tacky. We're talking 6"x18" area or so. It fucking HURTS. I have some pain meds, some strong topical lidocaine to kill the pain, and some gauze/etc to try and let it heal. It's starting to get better, but now the new skin is ITCHY AS FUCK and I find that I'm scratching it in my sleep, sloughing it off, and causing it to bleed like a motherfucker. This is so fucking bizarre. If I can't get it under control the Dr. says I'll have to use a would care specialist to help it heal. Luckily it's getting better... finally I could sleep through the night and not have the fresh layer of skin get ripped off... it's just about over the itchy phase, and should be able to start toughening up. I'm going through gauze and moleskin bandages like crazy over here.
That stuff can be no joke. My old boss went on a short hike in flip flops, got a blister which got infected by some lake parasite or something. When they took x-rays of his foot, the pinky bone looked like someone sprinkled fine pepper on the bone. They amputated his pinky toe but must've missed some because it came back and they had to take everything forward from just behind the ball of the foot.
Yeah, luckily the rash/fungus is no more, it's now just a case of the new skin growing back and toughening up.
Holy shit. Glad to hear that it is under control. Fungal infections are no joke and take so long to completely clear up.
It took a week to “blossom” and really set in. Like no poison ivy/oak I’ve ever experienced. And the doc diagnosed it as something fungal and gave me a cream that took about a week to get it eliminated.
Tangentially related to today’s news…I really wish there was a video online if Anthony Edwards on SNL as Princess Diana. So fucking funny, and gone because it was aired about two months before she died. EDIT: I actually found the whole damn episode. https://archive.org/details/saturday-night-live-s-21-e-07-anthony-edwards-foo-fighters Diana sketch is around the 53:00 mark. Can’t watch it because my break is over…so maybe it isn’t as funny as I remember, but there it is
Wow, the Queen is dead. I happen to be in Scotland doing fieldwork, and the man leading the expedition is an 80 year old Brit, very calm, serious man had to go outside to cry for a bit. It must be strange to have such a constant stable figure for your country be gone.
It's not that funny, but his bug-eye impression was a little funny. (An interesting thing is the Foo Fighters were the musical guest, playing right after that skit, and William Goldsmith was the drummer, not Taylor Hawkins.)
