You answered your own question. In all seriousness, my concern is around infrastructure. This town only has about 4000 people with a tiny police force, no local municipal medical services and two fire trucks. So as long as the Feds supplement and deal with it, fine. But their record on dealing with immigration so far has been abysmal. Can't be worse than the previous use of the facility, which was a recently-closed maximum security prison that had a few extremely violent riots over the years.
It wasn't hard to find an article about it. Its capacity will only be 450 people. You think it will strain systems that bad? It does suck that nobody in the town has any say in it. Massachusetts, only state with guaranteed "shelter for all" law. They're opening a craft milkshake shop in our town.
Fucking wonderful. Now your town will be flooded with lactose tolerant people demanding their dairy fetishes be catered to. In the meantime, big dairy and the fringe unpasteurized marginal groups will be fighting for territory. It’s going to be chaos.
No one has any idea, that's kind of the problem. The articles all say the prison is in good shape, but in reality it's falling apart and has suffered from infrastructure issues for a while. Local towns absorbing federal responsibility is absurd.
The pictures of these fucking milkshakes look amazing. They're about to run every other ice cream peddler out of town with their tale between their legs.
Not at all, I figured you were joking around. Sometimes it helps me organize my thoughts by writing them out more than anything. The discourse regarding this issue on the town Facebook page is really something.
Well I just pooped in a porta potty and got blue all over my butt from the splashback. How's your morning going?
There was a gay guy at the bottom poking people in the butt with a needle that had oopsie-no-no blood.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. The unit itself was clean and fresh with a filled cleaning sheet. No weird smells. I was down at the river taking a water sample at an industrial & construction area and I was the only person around. I was actually leaving the property and wondering how the fuck I was going to make it to the rest stop 20min down the interstate. It was like the heavens parted and a beam of sunlight hit the porta potty.
