Jim Beam is my go to, especially when it comes to cooking with it. There’s nothing quite as tasty as a pork tenderloin marinated in a Beam heavy concoction.
Yeah, I hear from those people almost daily...."Can't you just get me a prescription for (Drug)?" No, I can't. How about you just wander over to the shitty side of town, find a street corner pharmacist and let me deal with people that actually need help?
Somebody bought my 1990 Upper Deck MLB set for five bucks. Heist of a lifetime, that thing wasn’t worth the gas money here.
Since we spent our anniversary at home with a kiddo who just got his tongue stitched together, tonight my wife and I are going to a new Brazilian steakhouse as a combination father’s day/9 year anniversary. $50 each covers sides, salad bar (incl cured meats and cheeses) and of course all the delicious Brazilian steaks. It’s a fairly new steakhouse that has been getting insane press locally, and I’m thinking our plans for top golf afterward might get derailed by how full we are.
Tracking down the medical records of opiate addicts was always fun at my old job. They either purposefully withheld medical sources or forgot they ever went there. You'd get little clues when they mentioned a place by accident or in passing or saw reference to another medical facility within another record. This one chick was in her 20s, already wore a full set of dentures due to rotting out the originals. She was always in "so much pain". Yeah I'm sure she was because withdrawals are a bitch. She was at an ER literally every week plus regular scheduled doctor appointments. Everything else was the problem but the opiates. She had a seizure disorder, she had migraines.... yeah. Ok. You are having seizures from opiate withdrawals and yeah your head hurts too. You also are not having your disability claim approved. Part of the issue is how pain became another vital sign, but it's subjective as hell. Also the lies told by opiate manufacturers about the addictiveness of their product. It's a real fun problem and probably not getting better anytime soon.
So I learned today that if I blow off mowing my lawn for long enough my neighbor will get pissed at how shitty it looks and just do it for me. Guess who's never mowing their lawn again.
Juice, speaking as a mechanic, DO NOT buy any Jeep/ Chrysler/ Dodge product made since the '90s. The quality is shit straight out of a dog's ass. Go with the Tahoe.
Also you are comparing apples to oranges. You are comparing mid size to large. The ford explorer, the chevy traverse, honda pilot etc are the size of the cherokee.
We shopped for a 3rd row SUV and ended up with a Toyota highlander. Highly recommend it. Avoid the Ford explorers, they have a carbon monoxide leak and are doing everything that can to avoid a recall.
I was actually being kind of generous with that < '90s statement. I've been working on cars for over 20 years now, and the quality and engineering on Mopars has always been third-rate. I remember reading old muscle car tests in Motor Trend and other magazines, and there were all kinds of complaints about the quality of the Mopar cars; stuff that could have been easily avoided. I remember one particular test, the steering on the car (I think it was a Dodge Duster) felt really loose, and just got worse as the testing went on. It turns out they didn't tighten down the steering gear box at the factory. Yup. This is especially surprising, because car companies regularly send in "ringer cars" (cars that have been double checked on quality control, and usually had better tuning for better performance) for testing by the press to make sure that they get a good review. Quality control on ALL cars has gone up since the '00s, but I still see a lot of stuff on Mopars that makes me shake my head.
I have to say one of the best cars I’ve ever had was a brand new Grand Cherokee with 5.7 the first year it was available. Loved that car. Towed my race car with it until I replaced the open car trailer, when I traded it in for my Ram turbo-diesel, but it was awesome. I also had a brand new TJ that had zero problems for the 6 years I owned it and drove the shit out of it.
When we were shopping a year-and-a-half ago the dealership showed us the Carfax for an Explorer and super downplayed the severity of the carbon monoxide issue. People were essentially passing out at the wheel due to carbon monoxide leakage in the cabin. We did a little reading and found out that they were a lot of lawsuits in the works including a few lawsuits that the people with explorers won against Ford. There were police jurisdictions across the country that have lots full of Ford Explorers that they retired for safety reasons. The police vehicles were often modified which made the carbon monoxide leakage worse. Ford had some voluntary recalls at that time to have the leak fixed but people reported mixed results, some still had issues with carbon monoxide leaking into the cabin. So all that shit combined with the fact that the dealership was not upfront with us about it made us super sketched out. It's an issue that affected about a decade's worth of models. Since we were purchasing a new used vehicle with the hopes of hanging on to it for quite a while, this situation nixed the Ford Explorers off our list permanently. I'm glad that yours hasn't had issues that have affected you. Personally though? No thanks.
ii It would be even better to find a clean used one and let someone else eat the depreciation. Fuck buying a new vehicle, by the time you deal with the depreciation, interest, and full coverage insurance you've doubled the price of the vehicle and no matter how well you take care of it you're going to lose your ass. Much better to let someone else pamper the car for a few years and lose all that money, then swoop in and pick it up.
Jeeps keep their value exceptionally well vs the competition. I bought a 2015 Wrangler brand new for $34,900. KBB is still $30k.
