Might want to clear your browser history before you kick on the generator... just to be on the safe side.
I'll need to remind myself to play this everytime dieformetal posts something for the foreseeable future. Especially when he posts about the difficulty of trying to watch top quality porn during the worst of the storm.
“Dearest Mildred, I have tried to download the high quality pornography as per custom, but the vengeance of The Almighty has prevented me, nay all of us, from doing so. I tremble when I remember that God is just. Sincerely, Lt. Custer, 1st Infantry, Union Army”
Damn... Massachusetts is blowing up... https://www.necn.com/news/new-england/Multiple-Fires-Reported-in-Lawrence-Mass-493188501.html Seems that there are some major gas line problems. NBC10 Boston helicopter footage showed more than six houses smoking or in flames across the region, with a massive response from firefighters and police amid a problem with a gas line that feeds homes in Andover, North Andover and Lawrence. Andover fire officials said they struck a 10-alarm response, its maximum traditional fire response. More than 50 fire vehicles and 10 ambulances responded to the scene. Massachusetts State Police said they have confirmed responses to over 70 different addresses in the three communities for fires, explosions or investigations, and said the number will grow. They said troopers are assisting with scene security and traffic control after "multiple suspected gas explosions and structure fires. The warning from the officials are "if you get gas from this company, get out of your house."

Insane. There's been a couple house explosions here locally in the last 10 or so years. I have to guess outdated and faulty systems due to age. I wouldn't hook my house up to it, if available. I'd be a nervous wreck.
I'm late to this, so @dieformetal , if you even think you are going to take on water, take picture and/or video of all your contents that you can. You very well may end up getting an insurance adjuster who is a total pain in the balls and requests that (speaking from experience) Long story short - 700+ pictures and my wife working no less than 30 hours total (that is not an exaggeration) on a spreadsheet listing EVERYTHING in our house (looking up links with prices to everything we could find online) to get our full payout on insurance for our contents. All for a 2 bedroom/1 bath house.
Yep, I'm still here. Power isn't out yet(although the news tells me that downtown has no power and the beaches are flooded). Right now where I'm at it's just very windy and a lot of rain. They're saying that since Florence slowed down we're not getting the brunt of it until 12-2pm tomorrow. I've spent the last couple of hours taking shots of aged rum in my open garage with a neighbor and watching the storm. But now I'm closing the garage just to be on the safe side and hanging out inside. Also drinking more. It's odd to have such a quiet house with no daughter or dog here.
Great to hear, dude! Stay safe, have fun, don't get too hammered (said no non-wife/girlfriend ever), and be sure to turn the generator on before you go to bed.
Crazy facts I'm learning about hurricanes: Maria, the subject of Trump's tweet, killed nearly double the people that Katrina did. The 1900 Hurricane, despite making landfall in Galveston Texas, managed to kill 52 people in fucking Canada. It also managed to kill anywhere from 6,000-12,000 Americans before it got there.
I awoke to VERY loud winds about an hour ago. My TVs out, although I have no cable(use bunny ears to get news stations)so I don't know if the cable is out. Power is still on even though its been flickering on and off(although right before the TV lost signal they said there were 44,000 power outages so far) here and the internet just kicked back in. Something hit the side of my house as I was eating. Nothing big, probably just some loose debris.
Being in the path of one and preparing is scary enough, not knowing it’s coming and it just showing up must have been crazy.
