According to the governor of Kentucky you’re all a bunch of pussies https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...-is-weak-closing-schools-during-polar-vortex/
Yep, once the morning fog burns off, it'll be around 63/64* My business partner wants to retire to Montana. I'm going to retire to the Florida Intracoastal area. Both of us are completely baffled to the others persons choice. *fun fact: the FL pic was taken in February.
A lot of schools around here have been letting out early today as the mercury drops. Me, I'm hoping for an all out cancellation tomorrow so I don't have to use another sick day. Fucking pneumonia. Should have just let the doc pull me from work but I'm still relatively new and don't want to get off on the wrong foot. So I said "no".
Atlanta closed public schools yesterday for an *expected* two inches of snow. Grocery stores packed with every chicken little crying end of days. How much did we get? Flurries. They’ve done this every winter since snowmageddon a few years back.
So Monday night, Jungle Julia and I did some new acid we got and watched some old episodes of "The Night Gallery." (Her idea, by the way.) Holy shit, the editing and cinematography are great. Really trippy (which of course is what they were going for); I remember watching that show on the SciFi channel when I was a kid (back when that channel was worth a shit), and I never noticed the little details. Can't wait to do it again.
Serling was a genius. That was a really underrated show, leaned towards horror a lot more than Twilight Zone so a lot of people panned it.
He was really ahead of his time in the messaging of some of the TZ episodes. Eye of the Beholder, Monsters Due on Maple Street, Eye of the Beholder are all fantastic social commentaries. My favorite one is probably either The Shelter or Time Enough At Last (which is many people's favorite). Watching the Twlight Zone marathons on NYE or 4th of July with my cousins when I was a kid are some of my favorite memories.
I think its the greatest show ever made, and Eye Of The Beholder is the greatest episode of TV ever. As far as Night Gallery is concerned, the must-see episodes are “The House” and “The Other Ones ”, the latter being particularly chilling.
Ive seen some night Gallery episodes, but not many. I think it paled in comparison to TZ because Serling didnt have the creative control over production like he did with TZ.
It’s funny how when a true artist gets total control of their product, the end result is usually amazing. It’s almost as if THEY are the expert, and not some suit drumming up ideas like “Hardcore violence is fine. Just....no tits. I mean none. Line up ten people and slit their throats over a trough while bashing their brains in. But tits go too far.” Once the band Tool was guaranteed total artistic control for their third album they became the most celebrated progressive band since Pink Floyd. In entertainment, it’s best to sit back and let the pros drive.
Nobody mentioned it yet, so I'll just FYI it . . . Tool has a new album coming out in a few months. https://www.nme.com/blogs/tools-new-album-release-date-tour-dates-everything-know-far-2439986
Li'l Bandit is totally pumped about this. They're a good band and all, but they just didn't have the sound I was looking for. If they come close to us for a fair price, I'll take him to the show.
In the long run, I’ve hated every accountant and attorney I’ve ever hired. Probably a handful of each. Every single one has been overly entitled and fake.
So lawyers and accountants are basically like anybody who lives in Los Angeles. Got it. Did every accountant wear wire-rimmed glasses? Those are basically their gang colours, and they aren’t allowed to be seen in public without having them on.
Over the years I've spent a good amount of time along the Gulf side of Florida traveling the intracoastal. The mosquitoes are the size of humming birds, and the no-see-ums are the things nightmares are made of. Between those and the hurricanes, you couldn't pay me enough to live there. Weather is nice, sure, but it's also nice in other places where nature doesn't actively torment you every fucking day. If I could live anywhere but Texas, I'd live in Colorado. But the idea of a place like montana with a bunch of land and no one to hassle with seems like a good idea too.
