Yep. What he said. I have stihl chainsaw, leaf blower/vacuum, weed eater, and hedge trimmer. They are all awesome.
I'm at my folks house, and the same Stihl leaf blower, weed eater, and chainsaw I used 20+ years ago are still here and running just fine. I am sending the company a request to make replacement organs, so I know I'll never need another one.
Another good thing about Stihl besides their lasting power is they are easily repairable/ rebuilt if you know any small motor work. Construction crews LOVE Stihl for its combo of power/case toughness for their cleanup gear. They really do make the best blowers.
Husqvarna is the Duke, A-number-One. Stihl is the most well rounded for price/power if you’re not using it regularly. DO oil the chain now and then, though.
You know life has taken an odd turn when managing to procure a couple of 4 ozs jars of Fleishmann's active dry yeast makes you giddy. Stupid virus.
NONE of that shit... not even blends. Run as high octane gas as you can, as it usually has the least ethanol in it. Ethanol will eat through the carbs and just fuck the fuel supply up to the point that you have to replace shit to get it to work.
People laughed at me when I bought 2lbs of it from from a baker supply... never mind that it's a way better yeast than I've ever bought in a grocery store.
You can buy stuff to neutralize to offset the ethanol for say lawn mower engines. Does it not work for chainsaws?
I just don't buy the ethanol in the first place... less hassle, and it's not like the volume is huge.
Nope... it was the smallest size available. 2 lbs for $23 delivered. And it has a half-decent shelf life. The price was worth it compared to what they wanted for a small little jar.
Yeast used to have a limit of 2 in the store and they were still running out, now it is a limit of one when you can find it.
wait what?!? Like that's an actual thing? I've been pouring packets in my septic system on a monthly basis. Never had an issue finding them. I guess people don't know how to make bread down here?
I managed to grab a three pack of pizza dough yeast packets on an earlier trip to the store. I don't really know what the difference is, but it's what they still had on the shelf.
I pour a splash of Seafoam in all my gas-powered devices. It's really great for anything that sits from irregular use, like my power washer and generator. (Also, side note: I pour a whole can in my gas tank when I'm low on fuel in my truck, about every 6 months. I have done this since I hit 75,000 miles and I'm at 445,000 miles.) I also add an extra dose in the late fall, because I don't use my mowers much in the winter. But, I have found that on really small engines, like weedeaters, the ethanol fuel is just brutal, even with Seafoam or other stabilizers or agents. I just have my personal anecdotal experience, but have heard similar stories from my friends. There is just less margin for error, the smaller the engine. Plus, if you don't run your chainsaw every weekend (I don't), as it sits, the ethanol will loosen deposits that foul jets and ports, and also contribute to corroding parts or making rubber and plastic crack.
The car is packed up and ready to go. Now I'm just waiting an hour or so, so that I don't hit my usual stopping point about half way through to early and think "Fuck it" and drive straight through. An 18-19 hour straight drive is not pleasant. Looking out my window at the greenery and mountains makes it just that much more depressing that tomorrow I'll be back in that hell hole Vegas. Ugh.
Customer just came for an estimate and when I asked her name, she replied "Suzy" I print her estimate and she then tells me I spelled her name wrong. The correct way is "S-o-u-x-s-i-e". And no, she wasn't Native American.
Feeding the deer is paying off. They’ve been bringing in the turkey which eat the bugs in our yard, and now there’s a few turkey nesting within the surrounding few acres. One of the big bucks who was a 12 pointer last year — horns are still coming in — is eating corn out of my almost 3 year olds hand. He’s FaceTiming his teacher right now and there’s over a dozen bucks and a few small doe following him around like damn dogs.
