I grew some thai dragon peppers. I'm fermenting them to blend later for a wing glaze but the first step was blackening them a bit under the broiler. I learned the hard way to cut the tops off or cut them a bit... they popped all over the place and a few ended up in the bottom of the oven. Felt like I was macing myself when I opened the oven and got a hot blast in the face.
Star Trek Discovery is soon to start up their 3rd season... it's a great, dark entry into that universe. Needless to say, I was quite excited to see that they are filling some time before full launch with "mini Trek" episodes... 15 minute little short scenes telling one-off short stories. But fuck me if I'm not pissed off at the first one. The premise is that Spock reports to his first ever starship as an ensign, and is on his way to the bridge with the XO (#1), and the "elevator" breaks. They then spend hours trapped in the elevator asking each other questions and digging into the characters quite a bit. It was great. Except throughout the whole fucking thing, all I could think of was Spoiler "YOU HAVE TRANSPORTERS YOU FUCKING KNOBS SO WHY ARE YOU JUST HANGING OUT IN THE ELEVATOR WHEN YOU COULD BEAM THE FUCK OUT OF THERE IN SECONDS!?!?!?". *sigh* Fucking writers.
In other news... as much as I like my home made sangria, it can be a shit-ton of work to make. So I'm almost ashamed to admit that I have taken a liking to Yellow Tail Sangria. It's like spiced wine... more like coolaid with an alcoholic content. Has a bit of a kick to it, is a bit rough, but it presents a rather sharp peppery flavour that makes me want to just drink it like grown-up coolaid. In even other news... I now have mild chemical burns on my face because apparently I didn't wash my hands anywhere near well enough after prepping some hot peppers for the dehydrator. Happy Sunday everybody!
You don't know pain until you're making salsa, somehow don't get all the fire juice off your hands, then go outside to piss. My wife and I used to put IcyHot on the toilet seats to fuck with each other. That game stopped when our kiddos were old enough to use the potty, but nothing wakes you up quite like taking your relaxing morning shit and all the sudden your ass is on fire.
Had an amazing Friday night. Hung over yesterday and then got a cold as the day wore on. Been bleeeeehhhhhhhhhhhh all day today. Bummer.
Almost as dumb as the time I burned the shit out of my hand because, even though I explicitly had the thought "don't remove the radiator cap to a hot engine," I somehow didn't make the connection that the coolant temperature sensor is part of the exact same system, and removing it would have the exact same effect as uncapping the radiator. Coated my hand in scalding hot coolant and lost me a good bit of skin over the next few days.
Ive not watched Discovery outside of the first two episodes. Have you watched TNG, DS9 and so on? Is it more cinematic action like the JJ Abrams Trek or cerebral like TNG? Its something I worry about the new Picard show too. So many great cerebral scrips on TNG that I could never see any network doing today.
Coolant cap also has a warning label on it for that exact reason. I know this because I almost did it until I noticed the sign.
I’ve watched all that stuff. I would say it’s both. It’s also a bit darker. More cinematic with better effects, solid writing.
How is Star Trek: Picard even going to work? Hes haunted by the death of Data from Insurrection but also the destruction of Romulus, which happened in the 2009 reboot movie of TOS? That doesnt make any sense whatsoever. As much as I want to see Picard again, watching an 80+ year old Picard putz around Federation HQ and get into shenanigans doesnt seem all that hype-inducing.
It's not like there hasn't been about ten months worth of articles explaining/speculating how the series accomplishes the tie in. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/l...rts-picard-series-reveals-new-details-1174452 https://www.thewrap.com/star-trek-picard-everything-we-know-about-patrick-stewart-return/ https://ew.com/tv/2019/07/18/star-trek-picard-storyline/ https://io9.gizmodo.com/what-we-know-about-the-disaster-that-made-picard-quit-s-1835135219
I know everyone loves a good FAIL video. But, my favorites are the double fail ones. https://www.barstoolsports.com/video/1433935/this-unborn-child-doesnt-stand-a-chance-in-life
Pop the balloon and out drops a fetus. Is it even possible to pop a floating balloon with a baseball bat?
