my boys are 6 and 9 (shut up). Their favorite meal at home? Steak. I'll buy four 12-16 oz NY strips, or if I'm doing fillets I'll get six of them, and we still won't have leftovers.
Buckle down, you parents of young and growing boys! Once he hit middle school, my son was a gallon of milk a day food hoovering machine. Your average grocery bill is definitely not going to ease back down until they leave for work or college. Also, nice to see you coming around some, Blue Dog.
My 4yr old has been known to eat an entire Jack's Pizza from Walmart. Other days we're lucky if he eats 2 bites
Gospel truth right here. When both our boys were away at school the grocery bill for my wife and I was seemingly minimal. When they came home, holy shit. One is back here at home with us but he isn't home all the time so not too big a change in the grocery bill. When they're both here? Christ...
I feel this, my 2 year old is generally not a great eater (and sleeps worse when he doesn’t eat enough). But then randomly he’ll eat 2 whole tamales and a pile of rice and avocado. Or a giant bowl of pesto ravioli and broccoli. And other days he’ll survive on nothing but a strawberry and spite. I truly don’t understand.
Same with my kids son(7) and daughter(10). Sometimes they don't want anything other times, my leftovers for lunch the next day or non exsistant.
When I was a kid (a skinny kid), there were many times that I just didn't want to eat anything, or I'd just eat a few bites of something and feel full for the whole day. They are kids. They are learning how their bodies work.
So my neighbor/family friend, the one who’s wife I had to do chest compressions on a few years ago after finding her with no pulse? The one who taught me to fish as a kid? yesterday he was working on one of his classic cars in his garage and the engine caught fire. He tried to put it out with the fire extinguisher but it malfunctioned (paramedics said not uncommon even w “working” extinguishers). He was pulled out out of the house by an observant neighbor who hopped the fence, but within a few moments the entire house was 100% engulfed. I rode w him in the ambulance… it wasn’t pretty. He should make a full recovery if he’s mentally up to it. He is over 80 though and if he’s decided it’s time to meet his late wife, then that’s all she wrote I’m afraid. after a few more flare ups in the attic after the fire dept left we’ve decided to take shifts watching the house over night. Just did my first walk around. I’m physically I’ll looking at this thing.
Oh, and if anyone wonders why we have guns everywhere: we’ve already had one group of people trying to loot the house AS THE FIRE DEPT WAS LEAVING!!! It was strongly suggested that I keep a gun on me at night while I was watching the house because “stupid people do stupid shit, just protect yourself if you’re waiting there” (I was going to anyway, but you know…) Related note: I hate people
Firefighter was tending to a hot spot while I was rushing out the photo albums I discovered in the basically melted living room. This house looks like straight up Maui shit. I swear I’m gonna meet my end doing something stupid like this…. Well, calculated risk stupid. It’s important to someone. y’all check your damn smoke detectors and fire extinguishers
It's gotten so bad that they're ready to go in a loot a place where the owner/occupant isn't even dead? Man, that's cold. Just next level insult to injury.
*isn’t dead YET also had someone come by and with a flyer for demolition and cleanup services. I tried to politely tell him now isn’t the time. “See, actually now is PERFECT time because-…” “sir if you’d do not get off the property I’m calling the police.”
Yeezus. Capitalism is a hell of a drug. Besides which, I'm almost postiive that his insurer will have all of these things taken care of with various "preferred providers" and everything. Crass as shit to even try to start an argument about whether or not it's a good time lol
he introduced himself as my neighbor. I made sure to get a business card so I can leave them a negative review about their business practice. Fire chief was right there with me and he told me that sadly a lot of people do this because they don't wanna let a tragedy go to waste. He said he's seen people come in trying to get business from the family while the fire was ACTIVELY going on!
Jesus Texas has the most lenient killing in the defense of property laws on earth and people still take that gamble?
