I'll add that one to the routine. Every page turn will cue a head smack. Sometimes I feel the urge anyway when we are on read through #272 of Curious George.
It is really, really hard to beat a good AC/DC concert. There's just so much raw energy. I have to say watching them play jailbreak and thunderstruck tied together with a killer guitar solo was a top 3 concert moment of all time for me. Rush has a more refined, musical vibe to them... ACDC was just raw fucking power.
Piece of advice for the tech crowd here: if your company is almost completely remote, and you use SSO for everything, don't lock your entire company out of their google work accounts. Not only is it massively disruptive to productivity, but once you fix the problem... how are you going to let them know? You've forcefully logged them out of email, slack, calendar, and your video call software.
Nah, for us it's slack... people will be constantly trying to log back in so they'll figure it out themselves. My company has about 6000 people or so right now... I have no clue how we'd do anything like a callout... I'd need Okta (based on Google auth) to even get the cell numbers of all but a few of my team that have travelled together.
With humanity's natural inclination to revert to an exponential backoff, I won't be checking for another 12 hours at least.
I was on vacation last week in the middle of nowhere. My phone broke. I was not able to get a new phone for six days. At that point I had determined that 2 factor authentication of the devil. I couldn’t log in to gmail. I could log on to Amazon. I couldn’t log in to anything because I couldn’t get the god damned text code. It’s weird to me to know my cell phone carrier is responsible for my identity, if they take my number away I’m fucked.
I recently found out that my iPhone doesn't do anything to alert me that my Microsoft 365 MFA token expired. My email and calendar just stop working. I missed two meetings before a coworker called me.
Yeah, that's partly why we use Okta and Beyond Identity on all of our platforms. When I moved out from BC to Ontario years ago, I kept my BC cell number... and a big part of that is due to all the 2FA shit that it is tied to. It is not easy to change that shit over. I fucking hate it. But now I'm getting to the point that it's time, 8 years later, to do the change, and then try and figure out how to migrate 2FA as it pops up and fails with various services.
They set our expiry to 24 hours, so it starts to creep forward to where it expires at like ~10am. So, now you've checked your morning emails, and then your calendar expires and you miss everything.
We tried switching to Office for a while and Calendar was the biggest cluster fuck imaginable. It's just a pure shit product.
Microsoft MFA is a disaster and works like absolute garbage. We changed everything to Duo last year, which also has a lot of issues.
When it wasn't doing this zero trust, sign-out-all-the-time bullshit, outlook was a great calendar for me. Now, it's hot garbage.
I swear to god there is a force field around this part of the state that prevents any rain from falling. Every storm has formed a bow around it and then gone out to sea. I would like to know what the fuck MIT has been doing at the Air Force base about 20 miles from here for the last couple months.
Because local trades are fucking morons, and won't reply to a BC area code call to come and fix shit in my house; roof, eaves troughs, plumbing, hvac... all say "well, we never called you back because it's a long distance call". WHO THE FUCK doesn't have country wide free calling these days? Anyway, maybe now I'll get some fucking calls back.
No shit. Even my cheap neighbour will call my mom's cell and have her hand it to me rather than call my cell and incur long distance charges.
