The fucking desert. I hate the fucking desert.
I just had a bug up my ass to play guitar. Where I'm living at the moment it's kind of a lengthy process to play, so I don't do it often. I pulled the 8 track recorder out of the closet along with my guitar. I hooked the 8 track up to power and dug out the instructions because these things are complicated. I pulled a patch cord and headphones out of a drawer and untangled them. Then I hooked the guitar to a tuner.

Hmmm, the high E is a bit flat. 1/4 turn on the tuner and *BLING*. So now I have a 5 string.

Fuck it, I've been meaning to take it in and have it set up anyways....I'll just have them change the strings now too. I hate, hate, hate changing strings, I actually kind of dig the muddy sound of old strings.

Shut your mouth; nobody cares about hockey around here. What, you think this board is populated by Canadians or something?

We purposely didn't take our kid to see the Easter bunny because they're all creepy as fuck. No scary pictures for us.

Meanwhile, I'll be up until 2 AM with this kid, watching Powers on my playstation.

Any time a Kentucky team loses, is a good time.

Plus one on this. Now please have Wisconsin win. I hate Big 10 and ACC almost equal, but give me a state school beating private anytime.

At least we pay our athletes. Rather then trading an "education" for donated labour.

If you think that the star athletes aren't paid you're sadly mistaken. Apparently Scam Newton was worth about $700,000. The most talented kids have always been paid, the NCAA just does a really shitty job in trying to say they're student athletes when its blindingly obvious they're there to play. I spoke to a kid who played lacrosss for UVA and he admitted they'd take one real class and all the others were blow off and keep in mind this is UVA, I imagine they take the academic side more seriously than say Kentucky or LSU

Also, do you really think the kids in Junior hockey have it much better than the kids receiving scholarships to play at the big schools? Would you rather play in the CHL and play in Saginaw, or get a scholarship and play hockey for the University of Michigan? Its not donated labour, that such a loaded phrase I don't know where to begin. These kids are getting a hell of an opportunity to play for a program with amazing facilities, coaching, and that have avenues to pro hockey. They're not being taken advantage of, they're getting a lot out of the deal too

My alarm goes off in two hours to get up, finish packing and catch a flight. Since I'm taking it easy tonight, I only had a bottle and a glass of wine after work. I'm drinking a triple Captain now (cause you know, I'm taking it easy). I'm still in wind down mode. My friend picking me up at my destination asked me for my flight info. I said "Sunday, WestJet, at What The Fuck Was I Thinking o'clock". I go to bed at 7am, not head to an airport at 7:45am.

But hey, see you shortly Nanaimo. You look cute in your profile pics. Let's have a drink and see where it goes.

That's awesome because my best friend moved there as she's up for a job as a prison counsellor.

Back in '95 a friend of mine and I got the nightclub we were working at (Elphie's Cabaret, in Gibsons, BC) to sponsor us to do the bathtub race. We got 5 friends together and we built up a tub and strapped an outboard to it, and raced it.

We didn't have any pics from the event (no such thing as camera phones being everywhere), but it was like this:

My buddy who drove, Chris, had the worst day of his life, as it was a bit rough, and he did nothing but beat the shit out of himself for the entire crossing, and could hardly walk for the next week. Even with kidney belts and lots of padding, it was just battering.

Meanwhile, one of our friends owned a logging company so we were in his big jet boat crew transporter following him, drinking beer, and laughing at Chris.

We did end up winning the Stock category, though, which was awesome.

    It was a blast.
