Hi, guys! I guess I underestimated the hurricane, and I just barely got my power back on. Nothing too terribly bad. Pretty much how I predicted, I just thought I'd get the power back faster. Also, whenever I try to load theidiotboard.com on my phone, I get a white screen that says "nettdata.com" in really small letters at the top of the screen.
and people way overestimated it up here. We got about an inch of rain, some downed trees, nothing major. We were expected to get anywhere from zero rain, up to like 6 inches. What a lot of folks don't realize is, that "cone" you see on hurricane forecast models -- that's the predicted path of where it could be at any specific time, not necessarily where it's gonna follow. So people at the bottom of the cone are like oh we're cool. Yeah, but it has the same chance of hitting there, as it does any place at the top or middle. And of course nature doesn't care about chances and predictions anyway. The amount of stupidity and misinformation that is widely accepted as truth now is absolutely gonna fuck some people up. "I read it on facebook" is not a good reason for actions or inactions.
That is really weird... I'll have to dig into that. Try going directly to https://www.theidiotboard.com and see if that helps
Yup, you can call me an idiot (hey, it's the Idiot Board!), because all of the weather predictions said it was going to the North of my region, but instead we got hit dead-on. It was still only a category One storm, and I've seen MUCH worse damage from small, localized storms in my life. The flooding at my shop wasn't even that bad, FAR from the worst I've seen. However, one wall on one of the buildings was taken out completely. I'll post pictures later. It's not that big of a deal; the structure still stands. It wasn't that well built to begin with.
nope, you're not an idiot. An idiot in this case is someone like the fucktards I saw on the news surfing in the waves as it was coming on shore. Standing on Bob Hall pier as it was actively being destroyed. Driving through flood water in their body lifted 4x4's while forgetting that the 1) the terrain under them had changed, and 2) the only advantage a larger vehicle would provide in such a circumstance would be is if said vehicle had a frame lift. MAYBE.
I'm on my way to TX for Hanna. Dixie, pm me and I will share whatever resources are available for you. Hanna is mostly a non-event and Texas DEM is one of the best state agencies in the country (helps to be one of the few with a billion dollar+ budget). However, dat pandemic tho.... We're there and then we quarantine for 2 weeks. Some of us have to fly into another state and drive home, since we can't just...you know, leave Texas. This is one fuck-tarded apocalypse.
For those people wondering/messaging me, the nettdata.com domain is hosted from the same server so it's not a complete surprise... just probably some weird mobile fuckery by his cell phone company that is requesting a page in a weird way that is bypassing the configs for this board in the web server. Not a big deal, just a bit of an edge case/anomaly that I'll have to dig into and tweak the server configs to resolve.
The URI part of the request was probably garbled somehow. It looks like the nettdata.com page is the server default for that IP address for requests that do not match a configured site in Apache. Then his phone probably cached it aggressively, because phone reasons.
Yep... just have to dig into the exact calls that were done... it could also be that they're doing some Man In The Middle caching/tracking/ad-serving that screwed up and hit the IP rather than the qualified host name.
I was hurriedly cleaning up the living room and scarfed down a cupcake my son hadn't finished. It's not unusual for him to not eat an entire cupcake, so I didn't examine it thoroughly. I should have. He'd sprinkled bacon bits on it.
Wait, where's the ducks? I like ducks. Actually, that's ''just fell down the stairs holding a baby and in need of comfort food to ease the pain in my ass'' talk. Can't have white chocolate sauce in my coffee, can't have cheese in my burrito, can't have ice cream. So give me the bacon, or else. Hands up, this is a robbery.
A toasted western is considered a sandwich in most menus. Burgers are not. Nor are hotdogs. But they’re near between bread. Like a sandwich.
