California has had some wild fires going for a few weeks now, but holy shit, the winds must've changed because in the matter of an hour or so, it's become so smoky it looks like a foggy winter day.
I don't know if you guys remember the "Mommy, Daddy, Can I try" thread. I was the Air Traffic Controller in that thread. Unless we have an Olympic Gymnast in here, I doubt any of us can make educated comments about Simone.
Last week we had a couple of seriously hazy days here and you could smell the smoke. For reference , I’m nearly 3,000 fucking miles away. Insane.
I have a bunch of co-workers and friends living in BC right now… and it’s worse than it has been in years. Every year it’s getting worse and worse. One guy had to try and sleep with a mask on because the air was so thick with smoke he couldn’t breathe otherwise. That is the only reason I’m glad I moved out of BC. And I don’t see it getting any better any time soon… year over year, it’s getting worse.
Heart attack, but doing okay. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/bob-odenkirk-better-call-saul-heart-attack-1234989892/
I told my kid to change his underwear. He did what he normally does, dropped his old underwear to his ankles and the kicked them in the air. This time they hit the ceiling fan and were thrown right back onto his face. I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
Y'all got me looking hard at properties in the upper east coast-ish area, like upper NY state. We're pretty worried about the future of this area. I doubt a fire will wipe our town out directly but the smoke from the increasing number of burns is going to be bad, plus drought, water shortages, extreme heat. If we manage to get remote work or new job stuff lined up, we're gone.
When a kid does something stupid and gets instant karma, then I laugh my ass off. When it happens in a public place and every one looks from the kid to me, then my wife gets pissed off.
Go full tilt and move to Vermont. I’m looking at a cottage to buy in that state and I can’t wait to spend multiple days without seeing another person.
Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for breach of contract. Her contract for Black Widow has a lot of escalators based on box office gross, but Disney released the film simultaneously on Disney+ and say that doesn't count for the purposes of ScarJo's contract. It's bullshit and both they and she know it, but it has huge implications for the financials of the industry going forward. Interesting to see how the case shakes out.
We were talking about Vermont yesterday actually. What do you like specifically about the state? I've seen pictures but not spent any time there.
I actually think New Hampshire is prettier, but Vermont is gorgeous. Lots of skiing, hiking and all kinds of outdoor stuff. It’s a couple hours to either Boston or Montreal and a little longer to NYC, so you have a couple major cities within a half a day’s drive. Plus if you care about Covid vaccination rates, I think it’s the most vaccinated state in the country.
I thought her contract pretty clearly stated theatrical release only? And, then her people contacted Disney when they decided to release to D+ PA, so she could renegotiate, and Disney ignored that? https://www.wsj.com/articles/scarle...3fty44c1jljjq&reflink=desktopwebshare_twitter https://twitter.com/loudmouthjulia/status/1420812946427596803?s=21
