Our work is extending our afternoon break so we can see the peak of our 75% eclipse. And the sky is totally clear so that’s nice.
We've had unseasonably cloudy weather lately but today is freaking beautiful. Unfortunately, we also only get about 30% coverage.
My parents went to Vermont and spent $800 on a hotel room for the eclipse just to stare at clouds. I have blue skies and I'm pumped. Won't be total coverage, but 96% should be a good view.
I am 100 ish miles NW of the totality, but the sun is already starting to look a little off here in OKC. Won't be long.
Okay, the clouds cleared up enough for me to see it. It looks like a crescent moon right now. I tried to take a picture, but it looks like a blur.
Just so you know that if you point your camera/phone at the sun to take a pic of it like that it can very easily fry out the photoreceptor of the camera unless you have a solar lens cover on it.
FYI, NASA TV has a great broadcast going right now that shows the eclipse hitting landfall, just like a hurricane. https://www.nasa.gov/nasatv/ I've got the Apple TV app that does a great job showing it on the TV.
Yeah... there are some really amazing shots they're showing. I have an 8" Celeston telescope and I was tempted to try and get the proper filters for it so I could use it during the eclipse, but just never got it done in time. Right now I'm so sick I barely have the energy to go sit in the driveway wearing the eclipse glasses. I kind of wish I did get that done and had my camera all set up.
