By request in rep: Yes, I did hear more about the situation over the weekend. Turns out the guy was making bombs. The one the town highway worker found was remote controlled and had a range of about 6000 feet they figured. Inside the house they found a shitload of chemicals and blasting caps in his house. So many chemicals they had to bring in agents from Huntsville and Quantico to determine how to best move and/ or dispose of them. They spent a couple days taking explosives to a nearby gravel pit and blowing it up. The NYSP said that if this place went up, it would have been "catastrophic" for that downtown area of the village. In what has to be a first, all of the social media gossip turned out to be connected. It was him in the U-Haul, but when they stopped him they didn't find anything in it. But they decided it was time to act and did. He's in custody, likely facing federal charges as soon as they sift through all of the evidence. Fucking crazy. No word yet as to a motive, what, if any targets, etc. But safe to say a complete crisis, the likes of which this area has never seen, was averted.
