We should talk about what's the best way to fly in/around a hurricane. I'm sure there won't be any discrepancies about what is the optimal strategy for such an endeavor.
I'm kind of obsessed with reading about Hurricane Milton today. There's no local news so I'm just reading anything I can find online. I found this cool video that illustrates storm surge. https://www.reddit.com/r/BeAmazed/comments/1fzlook/the_storm_surge_for_hurricane_milton_is_expected/
What feed is everyone watching? I'm watching this one mainly for the bottom left. Pretty sure that's a street and Sanibel Island is way south of Tampa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu9hC5MokCA
Feeds: Tampa/St Pete is absolutely fucked. They just declared a flash flood emergency, with 1-14 inches of rain being reported to have fallen in the last 3 hours, considered to be a 1 in 1,000 year event. Milton made landfall right on top of my parents' house. Fortunately they evacuated several days ago and are on the bay side anyway. Unfortunately many of their stupid friends did not. Insane knowing that some of them who are alive today will not be by the end of this. They were all strongly advised to gtfo or die, so at this point it's basically natural selection.
I am probably going to be broken hearted about Siesta Key. I grew up spending hours on that beach and it might be gone by tomorrow. We also lived on Longboat Key for a bit and my grandmother lived in Osprey. In 45+ years, I don't think those areas have ever had a direct hit.
from what I’ve heard firsthand, LBK is relatively fine. The real damage is occurring a bit north Edit: “relative” as in “still standing.” St Armand’s is still there. There will be something to return to. Storm surge cleanup and the like, but they dodged the proverbial bullet.
My wife has recently become friends with a Disney Adult. Any tips on how I can sabotage the friendship?
I used to have a work acquaintance who went on 4-5 Disney cruises every year. She was some kind of Ultra Diamond rewards member, and when she stayed at the resorts she'd get upgraded to penthouse suites and stuff. She had at least half a dozen Minnie Mouse outfits that she'd wear into work, ears included. I'm pretty sure her husband had a fetish for it; if he came for happy hour on a day she was dressed as Minnie, he was always super handsy and all over her at the bar, to the point of awkwardness. The whole thing was weird. She unironically refers to her house as the "Barbie dream house." As you'd expect, she always behaved a bit immature, which was made more awkward by her ginormous boob job - so you had a 30 year old woman, dressed as Minnie Mouse, acting like a 12 year old, with cleavage that you'd need spelunking equipment to explore.
So… we are talking about the people I saw at the Disney Parks… who bring different sets of mouse ears based on the time of day/mood/park they are in…. Who go there at LEAST a dozen times a year…. who are borderline furries that made my wife whisper to me in line for the Seven Dwarfs mine train “Half of these people should probably be sterilized.” Those people?
I don’t understand how you can like the cruises at all. That’s a flat-out “No” from me when it comes to Disney vacations. We liked Disney World, atrocious prices aside. We had fun, its commitment to immersion is second-to-none and EPCOT is the best theme park for adults on the planet. …But we’re good now. We have no desire to go back for probably another five years at least, my daughter will almost 21 then. And by then it will cost so much we’ll probably be turned off from going at all.
We went to Disney when I was 9. I went back like 8 years ago because of work conference. I just can't comprehend how people would rather spend $200/person/day, plus all the other expenses instead of traveling somewhere new. Never understood why my dad hated Disney World. Now I do. And to think you can't sue them because you agreed to the Terms and Conditions for Disney+ is pretty evil. And of course, Zucc is sending me recommended instagram accounts for Disney now. One of them is "PlusSizedParkHoppers." I'm gonna go watch Threads to cheer up.
A few years ago, my oldest sister did this vow renewal at Disney. I was looking at hotel options since on location hotel prices are fucking ridiculous. As a result, my internet/news feed was inundated with all of the "My husband and I spent $100k on dumb Disney shit. Here's why it was worth it" articles for the next several months or so. Maybe do something similar with your wife. "Honey I spent $70k making a man cave for myself. Here are 5 reasons it was worth it and I would do it again."
